Game The Most Disliked Seventh Season Episode, 2025 Edition

Though it isn't one of her top episodes, I always love a Troi showcase, so I'll save "Eye Of The Beholder."

TNG: "Descent, Part II"
TNG: "Force of Nature"
TNG: "Journey's End"
TNG: "Firstborn"
TNG: "Bloodlines"
DS9: "Image In The Sand"
DS9: "'Til Death Do Us Part"
VOY: "Repression"
VOY: "Critical Care"
VOY: "Inside Man"
VOY: "Nightingale"
VOY: "Flesh And Blood"
VOY: "Repentance"
VOY: "Prophecy"
VOY: "Human Error"
VOY: "Friendship One"
VOY: "Natural Law"

I'll save DS9's "Image In The Sand", as even though it's arguably the weakest of the series' season openers, it's still pretty good and did a decent job of picking up where Tears of the Prophets left off.

TNG: "Descent, Part II"

Saving "'TIL DEATH DO US PART".

I thought it was already taken out, but I will make sure it is now... and assuring DS9 is eliminated from this game.

It kept the momentum of the arc going, and we get Sisko and Kasidy married.

Also, I love the Breen ships... very unique.

Saving Critical Care. This is one of those instances in which not being human helps the character show what it means to be human. I'm not convinced by the resolution, but seeing the EMH struggle against indifference is compelling.

"Firstborn" is another Worf-as-a-good-enough parent episode, in the end accepting Alexander for who he is. Also has Lursa and B'Etor who are always enjoyable villains.

Oof, we are down to some lousy offerings. But there remains one I still enthusiastically enjoy, and that is "Prophecy." It is kind of absurd, but in a fun way.

Ugh. What's all left is fairly awful, it's like a descent into numbery...

TNG: "Descent, Part II"

After part one being good, season 7's exciting premiere goes overtime in trying to show the audience how bored and out of steam it is. The guest cast has more wood than an antique furniture store, the plot is inane, Lore's plan doesn't come through with the tone it needs to be, Lore was making comments that had dumb political parallels associated by some fans back in 1994, and - of course - we have the culminating issue that's best sung: ♪ And Then There's Hugh

Data expositiondumps why the Borg became that way - confirming that this is the only good scene in the story.

Okay... nice to see stuff like this helping to elevate "Datalore"'s story quality by leaps and bounds...

Ditto^47. By the numbers, wood, hollow drama, hollow resolution, muzak, the lot. And this isn't even the worst scene in pt 2.

Lastly, I couldn't find the clip that had people making their cute parallels back in 94, so this will have to do:

There. Swap "Maude" with "Hugh" or "Vixis" and do some go-go dancing!

:guffaw:

I would have saved "Descent, Part II" next, so since that's gone, I guess... "Flesh And Blood"?

I think "Flesh And Blood" is trash. The writers of Part I and Part II are clearly not on the same page. The personality of the main villain changes dramatically between the halves, so none of the setup ends up tracking through properly into the payoff. This might have been less glaring if they had been aired a week apart, as presumably originally intended, but fusing it into a two-hour casts all the failures into high relief. It's an extremely unsatisfying viewing experience, starting strong and then just tossing you out of the narrative you've been watching at the mid-point.

I also find it almost offensive, on a professional level. The two halves not connectng is such a basic failure of writing staff competence. I forget who was running the room in Voyager season 7, but they weren't fit for the position.

But, it was cool to see so many different Star Trek aliens all in one episode.

Otherwise, a near total failure.

TNG: "Force of Nature"
TNG: "Journey's End"
TNG: "Bloodlines"
VOY: "Repression"
VOY: "Inside Man"
VOY: "Nightingale"
VOY: "Repentance"
VOY: "Human Error"
VOY: "Natural Law"

Kenneth Biller was running the writers room in season 7. He was also the only writer, except Braga, who has been there since season 1.

There is only one decent one left... "REPENTANCE". So I'm saving it.

Nice Seven episode, and interesting questions are raised.

TNG: "Force of Nature"
TNG: "Journey's End"
TNG: "Bloodlines"
VOY: "Repression"
VOY: "Inside Man"
VOY: "Nightingale"

VOY: "Natural Law"

"Inside Man" was a flawed episode, but it wasn't without its moments. Plus, it had Barclay and Troi in it.
