What would you say is the Star Trek series with the best finale? DS9 is my favorite series, but I thought TNG's finale took the cake because I was NOT expecting the whole situation with Q. It really took me by surprise. Enterprise definitely has the worst ending, but there might be a few people who really liked it (surely they must exist, right?).

Isn't this poll in the wrong forum--shouldn't it be in the General Forum?

Anyway I vote TNG. It isn't that I'm that crazy for "All Good Things," but it had a decent and open ended finale.

TOS didn't really have a finale--it just ended.

ENT's finale was a mess.

I don't think I really recall DS9's finale given that I had largely abandoned the series long before the end and saw episodes sporadically. I remember Odo staying with Founders in the great link and Sisko disappearing in a fiery chasm or something. I think I recall Kira and Jake looking out a station window at the end.

I never saw VOY's finale because even more so than DS9 and ENT I wasn't interested. You couldn't pay me to watch VOY.

TOS and TNG had the best finales in that at the very end the ship and crew sails on to their next advanture. DS9 and VOY just came to a halt.

I'm not entirely sure what happen to the folks in ENT, must of screwed up pretty bad not to be promotted after another decade of service.

I think it's fair to say that Voyager came to a halt. I mean the characters' stories would certainly continue, but hard to think of a Star Trek Voyager sequel.

But what I loved so much about DS9's finale (my favorite) is that it brought so much closure to the multitude of storylines we'd been watching, and yet opened up so much possibility for the story to continue. Sisko as a prophet; Jake and Kassidy moving on without Ben; Kira now in charge; aftermatch of Cardassia; Founders under Odo's influence; etc. It didn't really feel like an ending to me.

(Of course much of this was explored in the reboot novels, which I quite enjoyed up to a point.)

You're right. I thought I had clicked on the General Trek forum but I guess I didn't scroll up high enough. Should I PM a mod or report my own post or what to have it moved? And yeah, I agree that TOS didn't technically have a finale, but people may have loved the finale episode regardless.

I love TOS, but I voted TNG because "All Good Things" was pretty good and a proper finale.

However IF the 'Enterprise' Finale had been the two-part 'Demons' and 'Terra Prime' (and not that God-awful 'These Are The Voyages') it would have received my vote instead.

Agreed, and I think a lot of us like to pretend that those two episodes are the actual Enterprise finale instead of "These Are The Voyages."

The DS9 finale was really sad when Vic Fontaine started singing "The Way You Look Tonight" and they showed clips of previous episodes. The lack of Jadzia clips hurt the ending a little bit but it was a messy situation. DS9 had closure yet it still went on for the characters.

That said, my vote goes to TNG's finale. It is such a classic piece of Trek and one of the best TNG episodes. DS9 essentially had an 8 episode build up to the finale whereas TNG did a standalone.

I thought The Undiscovered Country was a great finale for the original crew but Turnabout Intruder was a poor episode to end the tv series on.

The less said about the finales of Voyager and Enterprise the better.

I voted for DS9, but Voyager had also its goosebump moments when they arrive in the AQ and are welcomed by Admiral Paris and Reg Barclay, whose persistence in the Pathfinder Project finally had paid off.

I would like to agree with this.
And that TATV was really just a TNG holodeck episode that wasn't particularly historically accurate. Or Riker intentionally killed off Trip just to add more drama to the situation.

As much as I enjoyed All Good Things, I personally loved What We Leave Behind (or whatever the finale of DS9 was called). Yes, the space battle was a cobbled together string of stock footage, but it was also the most satisfying use of space battle footage I saw on TV at the time. It was sad to see the DS9 team break up for various reasons....some for military or academic reasons...some political, and some spiritual. But, I loved the very ending of the episode with Nerys comforting Jake, and the long pullback from DS9. It wasn't as emotional as "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen" for M*A*S*H*, but it was definitely one of my favorite series finales. :)

Another for All Good Things..., because the trial perfectly bookends with Encounter at Farpoint, providing a thematic closure. The later series never accomplish that.
