Recommend an Episode

"Schisms". Data's poetry.
Or...
"The Nth Degree". Barclay as Cyrano.

I thought "Frame of Mind" would be too obvious, BTW.

-------------

How about... an episode that features a food you would like to try.

Chekov is pretty cute in "The Trouble With Tribbles." If you have time to watch a movie, he gets some good stuff to do in The Voyage Home.

How about a good holiday episode?

"Where Silence Has Lease" is a fantastic episode for Halloween! (It's always on the Halloween watch list for my wife and I.)

How about an episode where you thought a villain/antagonist did the right thing?

I'll recommend "Homeward," for Nikolai Rozhenko and his determination to save the Borallan villagers, and the very creative means he uses to do it. Honestly, I've never been a fan of the rigid 24th-century interpretation of the Prime Directive -- championed here and elsewhere by Picard -- as it often seems to argue that refusing to save lives is the moral choice. Nikolai doesn't accept that.

How about an episode that features a character best known for a different Star Trek series? (Arbitrarily excluding Worf, who might be as well known for DS9 as TNG. And anything from Picard, because -- too easy!)

I would say "Birthright Part 1". The Worf part was mostly lousy, but the scenes where Data learns to dream, with Dr. Bashir's help, were kind of fun.

*~*~*~*

How's about... an episode that focuses on one of the ship's doctors?

I'll pick "The Schizoid Man"... it has Dr. Selar there. (My first instinct was to say "THE QUICKENING", because I feel it's THE best Bashir episode, but I wanted to go for a doctor who wasn't a lead character.)

A shame we never see her again.

How about an episode that deals with time and involves NO actual time travel?

TNG "Final Mission" is one episode that involves time in the sense of deadlines -- the ship must get away from the radioactive barge in time to prevent fatalities, and Wesley must get water in time to save Picard's life.

How about a good episode without an antagonist?

Unnatural Selection is a fave of mine. Those kids aren't antagonists, they're just innocents who are victims of bad decisions by their parent/creators.
----------
- How about an episode where things get seriously out of control?

How about DS9's "CIVIL DEFENSE"? (One of my personal favorites.) Rising action throughout the entire episode, with each step getting more and more out of the control until the end, when they redirect the blast to the upgraded shields. (O'Brien being the unsung hero because if he hadn't finished those upgrades, the station would have blown up.) Literally, they actually couldn't stop it... only redirect the blast. That's pretty out if control.

How about an episode where we see a promotion?

Hmmm... most episodes with promotions are nothing to write home about. My favorite promotion scene comes at the end of "Menage a Troi", a mediocre effort.

In light of that, I'll go with DS9's "The Adversary", which has a good promotion scene and an excellent episode afterward.

How about... an episode where a character was either scantily clad or not clad at all?

I know, I'm running out of ideas...

Andrea from "WHAT ARE LITTLE GIRLS MADE OF?". Sherry Jackson was super hot...

Since this is Halloween season, how about a good possession episode?

Might not have a possession in the traditional sense, but I think it still qualifies, and it's inarguably a topnotch episode: "Best of Both Worlds."

Since @Frightscape One answered the request for an episode with a scantily-clad or nude character with one that had a hot woman, I'm going to request one with a scantily-clad or nude guy, since that happens to be my viewing preference....

"ACQUISITION"... Tucker is in his underwear for half the episode. (Terrible episode, but it does fit your parameters. And whatever anyone can say about scantily clad characters in STAR TREK, at least it was pretty evenly split between male and female characters on ENT.)

How about an episode where a lead character or characters look like complete idiots?

Going to forgive them for Night Terrors, since they were genuinely compromised.

I'm saying "Whispers", because all the crew had to do was put Faux'Brien behind a max level force field and explain their suspicion. Beam him there from his quarters if necessary.

-----------

How about an episode that occurs entirely or almost entirely planetside?

"Frame of Mind"... the entire episode, except the last couple minutes, take place in Riker's mind while he is on the surface of Tilonus IV.

How about an episode where no one looked badly?

I recommend SNW "Those Old Scientists," in which nobody, either series regulars, Lower Decks guests, or Orion scientists(!) were ever any worse than mildly grumpy or stodgy, nobody was stupid, and everybody worked well together. Also, not gonna lie, been looking for an excuse to recommend this one, because IMO it's completely charming.

I agree with every word of this. :)

From the "Beating a Dead Horse" Dept:

How about an episode where a character was naked or scantily clad -- and you really wish they weren't?

How about an episode where a character was naked or scantily clad -- and you really wish they weren't?

Oof...lots of those to choose from. But I personally recommend the TNG two parter "Chain of Command" because Picard is not only stripped nude (which is awkward enough for me as he is a definite father/grandfather figure) but is tortured as well. I am sure many viewers were triggered by that episode. All that being said it is a powerful testament to Picard's will that he endured said torture, and Picard's quote about torture never being a useful method to gain information is a message everyone in power should hear.

Recommend a good episode where no one dies or is threatened with death?
