Recommend an Episode

About a half-dozen iconic quotes immediately leapt to mind...but the first was "Let's make sure history never forgets the name Enterprise," from the TNG classic "Yesterday's Enterprise." Which is an episode I would recommend on the slightest pretext anyway!

Let's have an episode with a memorable space battle.
I was actually going to recommend that exact episode for the exact same reason.

A memorable space battle... DS9's "CALL TO ARMS" or "THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR".

Find me an episode where time is a plot point but time travel is not actually used.

I'll offer you two, with very similar names: TOS "Wink of an Eye" and VOY "Blink of an Eye." In "Wink" the Scalosians' movements and perceptions were markedly faster than those of our crew, giving them a significant advantage. In "Blink," time moves dramatically more quickly on the planet below than it does on Voyager, eventually enabling the planet's inhabitants to develop the technology Voyager needs to escape orbit.

How about an episode (not "Subspace Rhapsody") that included a memorable song?

"Charades", from SNW. Chef Pike is always fun. I even named the restaurant in our (my wife and I) island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons after him... 'Pike's Plates'. (Even told Anson Mount this when I met him... we got a fun conversation out of it.)

Find me an episode where the doctor (any show) does something really egregious.

I can find you an episode that matches your description quite well -- but I can't recommend it because I don't like it! That's ENT's "Dear Doctor," in which Phox finds the cure to the disease that's decimating the Valakians, but won't administer it because of his own flawed understanding of evolution.

So instead I'll recommend one that maybe fits a little less well, but that I would actually watch again: TNG's "The High Ground." If Beverly had just beamed up when she was told to, dammit -- or if her commanding officers had had the guts to force the issue (seriously, what a couple of wieners! Who's in charge on this ship, anyway?) -- her life and Picard's wouldn't have ended up in jeopardy. Nice going, Doc.

Speaking of who's in charge, how about a good episode centering on a first officer?

TNG's "Lower Decks" focuses on four junior officers.

I'll also recommend LOWER DECKS... the entire series.

Recommend me an episode that has no dangerous stakes.

"Family," that rare TNG "aftermath" episode.

Recommend me an episode whose plot has a strong link to the arts (music, art, drama or the like).
Great episode!

I think "VIRTUOSO" fits it perfectly, but I can't recommend it because it horribly damages The Doctor's character. So I will go with "Frame of Mind", because Beverly's play was central and it is one of the scripts by Brannon Braga and the best performance by Jonathan Frakes.

Recommend me a good bottle episode.

How about three?
TNG - "Remember Me"
DS9 - "Civil Defense"
ENT - "Shuttlepod One"

How about a standout episode that kicks off a multi-episode arc?
I love each of those episodes. Great picks!

How about "CALL TO ARMS"? Best season finale of the franchise, and it kicks off the Dominion War.

I'm going a different route... recommemd a bad Borg episode.

Possibly controversial but I'm not keen on VOY - Survival Instinct. Not sure why you'd want to be recommended with a bad episode but I appreciate the change of pace!

I'd like to request an episode with a great appearance from a guest star.

"The Drumhead" has Jean Simmons as a witch-hunting admiral, and one of Trek's most wretched evil female authority figures (of course Louise Fletcher gives her a run for her money, but she's a recurring character).

If you want lighter stuff, "Tsunkatse" has The Rock kick off his acting career by choke slamming Seven of Nine.

How about an episode with a standout performance by a recurring character?

"IT'S ONLY A PAPER MOON"... especially when Nog breaks down and tells Vic why he can't go back out to reality. Outstanding performance.

How about an episode with a bad performance by a recurring character?

There's one episode I'd actually recommend that includes a bad performance by a recurring character: SNW's "Subspace Rhapsody," and the performance is by Melanie Scrofano, playing Captain Marie Batel. She seems wooden during her -- somewhat contrived -- arguments with Pike, and she's arguably an even worse singer than Anson Mount. (Sorry, Mels, Anson, but it's true.)

How about an episode with some awesome location footage?

Almost every episode that uses locations is shot in the California desert. There is a really good Strange New Worlds Episode called Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow that is shot around Toronto.

For my recommendation, Voyager and Enterprise are blind spots for me, and I would love an episode with war/political intrigue like the TNG Klingon episodes, Unification, and Taste of Armageddon.

The Andorian trilogy on ENT ("Babel One", "United", "The Aenar") has some serious intrigue. Plus, you know, Jeffrey Combs.
-----------
How about TOS, TNG, or VOY episode that actually changes the show, rather than the changes getting wiped by the big red reset button.

Voyager Scorpion part 2 changed the show because Seven Of Nine was introduced.

How about a cool episode with Ferengi, but not a DS9 episode? (Is there any?)

"Peak Performance"... excellent use of the entire cast, and the Ferengi actually felt menacing here.

How about an episode where you truly DO NOT agree with a lead character's decision?
