Comfort episodes/movies

Duet? Be interested to hear why it’s in your list of comfort episodes. It’s a stunning hour of television, but it’s one of the most uncomfortable episodes for me to watch.

Hmmm, I might have misread or read into the OP too much, but I love suspense/mystery/twist episodes and this one really delivers, keeping me hooked in its universe. True, it tackles very heavy material and has a downer ending, but it's one that also feels like it may have been made with Ro in mind.

Agree, TOS is ultimate comfort Trek for me. All three seasons plus the 6 movies.

I also find TNG seasons 1-3 comfort viewing and DS9 seasons 3-4. I love all of DS9 but the latter seasons are generally darker and the war and its buildup makes it more…discomforting. Trials and Tribbleations may be peak comfort Trek however. It’s an hour of pure joy.

"The Corbomite Maneuver."

The music, the vibe, Shatner doing what he does best, that luminous early TOS cinematography. Like a trusty, old blanket I could put on every day.

"Tomorrow Is Yesterday"

Seeing the ship in the sky inspires hope and wonder in me. Every time. And it's got Mr Kyle demonstrating patient kindness and consideration to his unexpected guest. Lovely.

"Assignment Earth"

For purr pet therapy value with the awesome Isis, whose hooman seems to be of the Cheshire variety with his annoying tendency to vanish without warning...

Comfort Voyager episodes:

Prime Factors
Learning Curve
The 37's
False Profits
Worst Case Scenario
Night
Timeless
Thirty Days
Think Tank
11:59
Pathfinder
Live Fast And Prosper
Critical Care

Timeless is my favourite Voyager episode with 11:59 and Pathfinder a close joint second. Comfort films are Deep Impact, The Day After Tomorrow, Twister and Contact. I've watched them a million times but still enjoy them.

There's definitely one comfort VOYAGER for me personally.........whichever one had the holo-Doc soothe Tuvok's savage loins with his ''Illogical'' classical music mashup. I saw that at the right ending of a not-so-great workday. Years later I thanked Picardo for that personally. Pins and needles, needles and pins, it's a happy man that grins. Sally Kellerman had the exact same effect on me one early morning with one of her non-TREK efforts.

The Naked Time
The Trouble with Tribbles
The Voyage Home
I, Borg
Rascals
A Fistful of Datas
Birthright pt1
Past Prologue
Blood Oath
Our Man Bashir
Trials and Tribble-ations
Take Me Out to the Holosuite
Absolute Candor
and just about any episode of Prodigy

Honorable Mention: The "What We Left Behind" docu

First Contact is my #1 comfort movie. Aside from the fact that it's just awesome, it was the first Trek movie I saw in the theater (I was getting into Trek while Generations would have been out, but I was 9 years old and not really aware of it.) I also saw it with my dad and it's a memory, so if i'm feeling down, I fire up First Contact.

It's amazing how fast it became a comfort episode, but PIC "The Last Generation" or "Vox". "Nepenthe" also gets a shoutout there.

DS9 "Trials and Tribbelations" is up there.

My weird one is TNG "Conundrum". Idk. I just like it.

ENT "Broken Bow". I've never disliked ENT, but can see where there is... varying quality, but I really think Broken Bow is the best Star Trek premier episode. It's kind of odd given the shows history... I think ENT S1 is ALSO the strongest 1st season of any Star Trek.

Totally agree with those comments about ENT! Although I think all trek has varying quality: vastly varying quality. And honestly — although I can see many issues with ENT — I do think it is much better than a lot give it credit for.

I wonder if there is some ASMR going on…the transporter sound effect was reasonably close to the soothing sound of an old window unit air-conditioner.

Everytime I think about putting on Trek I always wanna watch "Time Squared" and "Q Who" so I really think they are my comfort episodes. I just like how weird and ominous they are.
