Best episodes of any series??

Won't say these are the "best", but some of my favorites are:

TOS: Balance of Terror, The Doomsday Machine, Amok Time, The Trouble With Tribbles
TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise, The Matter of a Man, The Wounded, Best of Both Worlds
DSN: Duet, The Visitor, In the Pale Moonlight, and many more
VGR: nope
ENT: In a Mirror Darkly 1 and 2
DSCL too early to pick "best"
TAS: Yesteryear

There are no "best" episodes, only favorites. And please don't bring up critics. I haven't given a rat's ass about how they think for years.

Going for favorites, not best. And trying to avoid the usual suspects.

"The Wounded" is a great TNG ep that doesn't nearly get the attention it deserves, IMO.

"Little Green Men" is among my favorite DS9 eps.

"Future's End" was fun on VOYAGER. Still wish Sarah Silverman had stuck around.

I wouldn't know where to begin to pick a favorite TOS episode. Too many choices!

Gosh, the majority of season one of Star Trek.

TNG there are too many to say.

DS9: "Emissary" "Duet" "Second Sight" "Dax" "Progress" "In the hands of the Prophets" "The Homecoming" "The Circle" & "The Siege"* "Invasive Procedures" "Cardassians" "Whispers" Oh, there's too many to say.

VOY: "Distant Origins" "Tuvix" "Worst Case Scenario" "Cold Fire" "Scientific Method" (This episode could've been a comedy if the pacing was different but a good episode.) and this one is not a great episode but I liked the outrageous leaps it went to tell their tale and that's "The Voyager Conspiracy"

ENT: "Carbon Creek" and "In A Mirror, Darkly, Part II"

*The first three part Trek arc which was beautifully performed.

Won't say these are the "best",

I have no problem saying my favorites are "best", because that's one reason they're my favorites, and I am unanimous in this!

TOS:
The Cage, The Corbomite Maneuver, Tomorrow is Yesterday, Arena, Shore Leave, Balance of Terror, The Galileo Seven, Devil in the Dark, A Taste of Armageddon, Errand of Mercy, The Trouble With Tribbles, I, Mudd, The Doomsday Machine, The Enterprise Incident, The Savage Curtain

TNG:
The Ensigns of Command, Datalore, Yesterday's Enterprise, The Chase, Darmok, Chain of Command 1&2, Genesis

DS9:
Far Beyond the Stars

VOY:
Prototype, Dreadnought, The Omega Directive

ENT:
Catwalk, Dead Stop

I've always adored TOS Spectre of the Gun. I cannot explain why, I just know I love it. It's like a warm blanket.

Yeah, I like it too. I think part of it is that odd warbly effect while they are on the planet. It has an oddly hypnotic quality.

Also, this was my first exposure to the Wyatt Earp story. For years I thought the Earps were the bad guys

As far as favorites:

original series: several in fact, but two that stand out are "The Menagerie" and "The Doomsday Machine". Also, so the 3rd season is not left out I'd pick "The Tholian Web"

animated series: "The Slaver Weapon" as it depicts my species :nyah::rofl::wtf: ---ok, in all seriousness it is a great episode

TNG: "Q, Who"--the Borg were one of my favorite villains and at this early stage they seemed invincible, and mysterious.

DS9: "The Search"--this episode was very unusual, almost had a theatrical feel to it. Also it was one of those episodes I was waiting to see for years, I had seen later episodes with the Dominion and because I missed this episode when it aired I was very curious about how that all started. It felt so sweet when I finally got to see it on video and it didn't disappoint.

Voyager: "Dark Frontier"--one of the few episodes I saw as a first run. I remember thinking it was going to run over it's hour until I realized it was a feature length episode. But I loved esp. the flashback scenes. I also have to throw out there "The Thaw" (the episode with the 'clown'). As a horror movie fan I really liked that episode and it's delving into 'fear.'

Enterprise: "Impulse"--I'm a horror film fan--need I say more

Movies: The Motion Picture--always has been my favorite, always will

As far as Discovery, I'm still in my first run. But up to this point halfway through the 1st season I'd tentatively pick "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" partly because I always liked those weird time change/loop episodes. But that may change as time goes on.

These are the ones I keep returning to..

TOS: The City on the Edge of Forever, The Doomsday Machine, The Menagerie

TNG: Yesterday’s Enterprise, The Best of Both Worlds, All Good Things

Okay, 3 from each:

TOS: Balance of Terror, The Doomsday Machine, The Corbomite Maneuver

TNG: All Good Things..., Tapestry, Yesterday's Enterprise

DS9: The Visitor, Hard Time, Duet

VOY: The Year of Hell, Living Witness, Blink of an Eye

ENT: In a Mirror, Darkly, Carbon Creek, Dead Stop

DSC: Into the Forest I Go, Despite Yourself, Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad

Every time a thread like this I tell myself that I'm going to buckle down and come up with a list of my favorites. Five minutes in to a list of first season TOS episodes and I've already found ten great episodes. There is just no way that I can come up with a proper list. There are just too many great episodes.

The best I can do is list a handful of episodes that I think are incredibly underrated.

1) DS9: Once More Unto the Breach
2) TOS: A Private Little War
3) Voy: Muse
4) ENT: First Flight

Dead Stop

it's just an incredibly rewatchable episode, isnt it? Breaking the Ice is another ENT episode episode that I can go back to time and time again.

When we did the survey of least disliked episodes of all the shows last year, I wondered if we should have done a finale of the winners of each series, and the end winner... well, wins the title.

I thought it might be unfair, since not everyone has seen every series. Now, I wonder if we should do it...

Do it.
