I liked how Kayshon used some of the Tamarian sayings we heard before in "Darmok," like:

"Kadir beneath Mo Moteh" (inability to communicate or understand)

And I think he also said "Kailash, when it rises" (necessary loss or sacrifice) when he was being taken to the brig.

edit: If alt-Billups is King, why is he still serving on his Cerritos?

I liked for once they acknowledged for once that someone from an alternate reality would think of their own as "Prime." It sure got silly on Disco that Georgiou was always referring to our universe as the Prime Universe and her own as the Mirror Universe.
Not the same franchise, but a similar thing took place in Futurama

And also, T'Lyn cracking a joke at the end of the episode. Did this really happen? A Vulcan says something with the explicit intention of cracking a joke? They broke an almost franchise-wide characterization just for the sake of a joke?

The blue Oreeons were a fun callback. LD is really making TAS feel more like a part of the Trekverse.

From recollection as I just got done watching it:

Apollo's hand and the Tholian web had me in stitches.

Loved Tendi's subplot and her doing her own thing! TNG movies should have done that sort of thing.

Great take in the doppelganger trope!! (great visual of the Cerritos heading back to the rift, too - the direction is stellar)

Am definitely glad they didn't do an arc of doppelganger Marriner - I would have been interested, yes, but the subverting of expectation was expertly handled and made it even better. (Hmmm, is it possible the alt-crew might return?)

Beard. And the arc that I'm sure will follow regarding the PADD.

Loved both T'Lyns.

Rutherford's double being near-Borgified makes one wonder. The one thing I do recall, in stumbling on, is that I believe there is a Borg episode later this season. Don't tell me either way. :D

The "Blue Orions" (?) look like villains you'd find in the late-70s "Superfriends" cartoon. That just added TO the episode's charm.

I'm sure I missed some of the references and in-jokes. That's okay; they'll be prominent in re-viewings and the fact the story is put into consideration first and isn't relying on "a show of references" is as terrific as ever.

Can't believe this is the last season, if they're still putting out strong material.

9/10

My S5 BluRay has arrived so I've started a rewatch.
I always watch the opening intro/credits as it never fails to amuse me. I like following the little point of light that is the Cerritos as she gets sucked into matter stream towards the black hole the before warping out of the accretion disk. The lights flickering out after Cerritos scrapes the ice spire, and the boggle-eyes of the nacelle-sucking space grub thingy still make me laugh. The biggest laugh is from V'ger's "BRRRRRRRAAAAWWWWWP!" at the end :D

Some notes/quotes I particularly enjoyed:

Sweaty, dishevelled Rutherford

Ransom: "Hey! I'm supposed to press the button, you sexy bastard!"
Alt Ransom: "This is my universe, you steamy hunk!"
Then Freeman says that it's her ship so her Ransom gets to press the button and he looks super-smug and says:
"Ha ha! Eat it, handsome!"

Mariner's realisation after receiving the 'sarcastic Vulcan salute' from Becky Freeman, "Ah, so that's how that feels."
