Could he be the unexpected return? Did Alaimo ever say he didn't wanna pick up the phone for Trek?

Marc Alaimo hasn't done any acting since 2010, so I don't think he's picking up his phone for anyone, Trek or otherwise.

I liked that the Cerritos engine room is so huge they need to rappel up and down the walls to do maintenence. Haven't seen guys doing that in engineering that since the Kelvin evacuation in the 2009 movie.

If recasting is out of the question, Gul Dukat could have still appeared in a role without spoken lines. Have Shax take down all the Cardassians, he shows up next, Shax says "Dukat!" and attacks him without giving him time to say anything.

And as that is a spiritual thing and not a real fight, Gul Dukat would appear without contradicting his fate at the end of DS9.

Not my favorite but not the worst. I liked seeing a bit of the bridge crew do their job, though Ransom continues to be annoying, his roundabout ploy...I hate roundabout ploys. Laughed at T'ana and was moved by Shaxs a bit.

I actually enjoyed it. Felt they should have just narrowed it to a few key senior staff but it was all done well. Personally Stevens works his butt off and is a fantastic Captain's aide. Capable, quick thinking and ahead of the game.

Fun filler and, as having forgotten the Clickets setup at the start, I'll admit to howling like a honeymooner over the reveal at the end and compliments spewed out like there was no tomorrow. Nicely done. (Who'd knew that "Coming of Age" combined with "The Trouble with Tribbles" or "Day of the Dove" would be possible influences leading to vignettes like LD's UD dénouement , the Doopler all-time classic episode where spouting anything that makes them nervous causes them to duplicate, and one or two others but they all feel just as fresh. Nicely done for sure! (Seriously, "Dooplers" is an easy go-to for rewatch, IMHO.)
