It's been bugging me that the title is a reference to something. I want to say "Fisher Price", like the toy company, but it's not that. Not "Galaxy Quest", either, but at least with something that sounds like "fissure".

Yeah, I think it's a word play on "Vision Quest." Thought that when I saw the episode title revealed.

Amazed at the number of guest stars. Knowing this would be the final season, it'd be the last chance of sorts.

Alfre Woodard is always enjoyable and she gets a few banger quotes to elevate this as much as she got some of the good bits of STFC.

The Harry Kim twist was hilarious.

One can never go wrong with Schrödinger.

The principle is that until the results of a given event with two possible outcomes have been observed, both outcomes have occured. Harry Kim is both promoted and stuck at ensign until canon events proclaim one or the other.
All possibilities will eventually occur given enough finite time, except that which is expressly forbidden.

Therefore Harry Kim's still an ensign.

I'd like to think that Harry retired from Starfleet as an ensign and gained fame and acclaim by playing the clarinet.
And people like you and me, I believe, are the reason for our "Schrodinger Harry" paradox. If Harry is canonically forever an ensign, those like me who hated his 7-year ensignhood with a passion will be infuriated. If Harry is canonically promoted, those who took a sadistic pleasure in his long ensignhood will be similarly upset. What began as a deplorable display of incompetence by Voyager's producers has become self-sustaining.

Anyone who's "infuriated" by whether or not Harry Kim does or does not forever remain an ensign may want to consider the virtues of touching more grass.

Oh, believe me, I can be just as pissed off about it when I'm outdoors and there's no screen, keyboard, or controller within 100 yards of me.
It isn't even at that point a matter of the CHARACTER or not so much as it being stupid writing and a joke gone so far it's gone past meme status.
