A TNG Animated Series?

yes, if they could make it as realistic as possible. No cartoons please.
Photorealistic/near-photorealistic CGI animation is what you want then.

A pinch of salt, indeed.

For example, I said Filmation, because the article I was reading said Filmation (well, "Filmnation" [sic]). But actually, in 1998, Filmation had not existed for several years, and its IP rights were held by Hallmark [wiki]. I'm going to say more than a pinch of salt.

A sackful of salt.

I make no claims as to the veracity of the articles published on Trek Central. ;)

I mean, for it’s time, not bad… but…

Well… garish colours, limited character movement and facial expressions…
I think it worked reasonably well for Reboot and Beast Wars because neither show was about real humans. They were about computer programs and robots, so the less natural movements were somewhat more acceptable.
Reboot actually improved quite a bit during its run and it sometimes even managed to use the unnatural/limited animation to its advantage, like with Hexadecimal and her mask faces.

That's what I want! :techman:
Awesome. I recommend the Resident Evil CGI movies they're good although the latest one I feel doesn't mesh well with the original games continuity since they mix old RE character designs (most of the Cast) with new ones (Remake 3, Jill)

I'm not too fond of the "Resident Evil" stuff but the animations you provide are great.

I'd rather have the proposed The Final Frontier web series from circa 2007.

I said this before but take the audio and turn "A Final Unity," the "Generations" game and any other game with Trek actors doing voices into animations. I think it would be fun. I at least hope to see the full opening to "A Final Unity" as animation one day, with the Garidian warbird facing off against the Enterprise-D.

Vulcan Fury should absolutely be published in some form

Star Trek Online needs to be turned into an Animated series

I just think it’s weird and kind of pointless to go to all that effort to make animation look ‘real’ when it would surely be easier to just do whatever it is for real in the first place.

The RE animated movies still have a lot of the uncanny valley factor. They don’t convince me as being realistic… so why spend days, weeks or months digitally recreating the movement of individual hairs (for example) on a humans head when they could just film… well, real humans?

If a person says ‘no cartoons’, I get it. If a person says ‘don’t do cartoons unless the animation could be completely photorealistic’… well, it just seems to be a lot of effort to go to, only for the final result to look false regardless.

I think, if I wanted something TNG-related in animation, I would grab some good modern sci-fi writers and do a Wesley Crusher/Traveler series.

I think I might be in the minority here but I really hated Wesley Crusher, especially after he ditch Starfleet and went out with the traveler.

I would rather a DS9-centric storyline on how the Bajorans were Officially brought into the Federation. There we could see them bring back Colonel Kira (and hopefully Intendent Kira).

I was not a fan of "Journey's End" at all, I thought it was ridiculous. Wesley's scene in NEM was very saccharine, and hence awful, as well.

However, the scene in PIC "Farewell" was actually really well done and one of the better things in the series, though it couldn't have been more obvious that they were setting him up for something down the road.

I haven't see S2 of Prodigy, so I can't comment on how well that's done, but it sure as heck is animated.

They're not going to do that, because they won't want fans to be confused about a show taking place in a continuity that's different from the other shows they're producing.

This is, of course, one reason out of many why one can't gauge how good animation is by looking at a single frame.

I’ve watched them, if that helps? Been a big RE fan since Sega Saturn days. :-)

The modern RE movies are a massive improvement over earlier efforts like the FF movie released earlier this century, but they still don’t entirely convince.

From my perspective anyway…
