Besides Starlog (as mentioned) and other science fiction media magazines, the local newspapers would carry movie gossip columns which would occasionally have info on whatever Trek movie (or TV show) was in production or being announced. From 1982 on the Paramount-produced Entertainment Tonight TV show would feature behind the scenes segments.Did audiences at the time know the next movie was already into production, or was it not known until movie posters and trailers drop? Pre-internet and all.
