He glances back at Troi, who looks after him with a sorrowful look, knowing what she is asking of a dear friend. He gives her a simple nod and climbs inside, sealing the door behind him. Troi closes her eyes for a moment, when she opens them again they are set and determined, La Forge will save them all but they're not out of the woods yet and she has other decisions that need to be made, as is the burden of any Captain.
