Game The Most Disliked Klingon Episode/Movie, 2025 Edition

Firstborn has the awesome James Sloyan in it, so gets an automatic save.

As Alexander episodes go, this one shows him in a pretty decent light, compared to some of his material.

TNG Season 3: "The Bonding"
TNG Season 6: “Birthright, Part II”
TNG Season 6: “Rightful Heir”
VOY Season 4: “Day Of Honor”
VOY Season 7: “Prophecy”
ENT Season 1: “Sleeping Dogs”
ENT Season 2: “Marauders”
ENT Season 4: “The Augments”
ENT Season 4: “Affliction”
ENT Season 4: “Divergence”
Kelvin Feature: "Star Trek Into Darkness"
DIS Season 1: “The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not For The Lamb’s Cry”
LD Season 1: "Envoy

I like "Envoy" not so much for the Klingons but for the Rutherford story. Going around, trying to find out to what you are best suited and everyone being supportive sounds soooo StarTrek. Lower decks is off the board

"Prophecy" is a Voyager episode I have a great time with. I love exploring the cult-y side of the Klingons, I enjoy the staging of their attack on the crew, and Neelix's fling is a fun C story.

TNG Season 3: "The Bonding"

“The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not For The Lamb’s Cry” No one did Klingons better than Discovery, in my opinion.

TNG Season 3: "The Bonding"
TNG Season 6: “Birthright, Part II”
TNG Season 6: “Rightful Heir”
VOY Season 4: “Day Of Honor”

This might be my oddest reason yet but I am saving "Day of Honour" because I like the book series that arose from the concept! Voyager has left the board

TNG Season 3: "The Bonding"
TNG Season 6: “Birthright, Part II”
TNG Season 6: “Rightful Heir”
ENT Season 1: “Sleeping Dogs”
ENT Season 2: “Marauders”
ENT Season 4: “The Augments”
ENT Season 4: “Affliction”
ENT Season 4: “Divergence”
Kelvin Feature: "Star Trek Into Darkness"

I’m taking out The Bonding. It isn’t the best but it gave a kickstart to the career of Ronald D. Moore. Without this episode I wouldn’t have For All Mankind or NuBSG in my life, so… worth it. Worth the save.

TNG Season 6: “Birthright, Part II”
TNG Season 6: “Rightful Heir”
ENT Season 1: “Sleeping Dogs”
ENT Season 2: “Marauders”
ENT Season 4: “The Augments”
ENT Season 4: “Affliction”
ENT Season 4: “Divergence”
Kelvin Feature: "Star Trek Into Darkness"

If no one takes Into Darkness off the board, it’s my next choice.

Also, fuck insomnia.

Saving "Birthright, Part II".

I have honestly never understood the hate this episode gets. Worf is teaching young Klingons about their culture and heritage. How is that wrong?

And the ending, he brings a group of young Klingons out to the rest of society... Klingons who all have GOOD opinions of Romulans and have a bit of an understanding of them. And those Klingons can help change the minds of others, and those can in turn do the same for others. Those people can help turn hatred to understanding.

Isn't that one of the core philosophies of the franchise, helping people find an understanding so we can all live together peacefully?

To me, this is a very STAR TREK ending, so I will always defend this episode.

TNG Season 6: “Rightful Heir”
ENT Season 1: “Sleeping Dogs”
ENT Season 2: “Marauders”
ENT Season 4: “The Augments”
ENT Season 4: “Affliction”
ENT Season 4: “Divergence”
Kelvin Feature: "Star Trek Into Darkness"

Into Darkness for me then. Hang me from a lamppost if you like. I think it’s a fine movie.

TNG Season 6: “Rightful Heir”
ENT Season 1: “Sleeping Dogs”
ENT Season 2: “Marauders”
ENT Season 4: “The Augments”
ENT Season 4: “Affliction”
ENT Season 4: “Divergence”

Looks like ENT is the loser. If I could choose another, it’d be Sleeping Dogs.

I know its reputation is not great, but I am a HUGE fan of all three Kelvin movies, including "Star Trek Into Darkness" (I think they outperform all other Trek films, aside from TUC). It's probably the weakest of the trilogy, but that still has it at #4 Best Trek Film Of All Time for me.

Yes, the title could not be worse, and yes, the producers needlessly harmed the film by lying constantly about what it was about in the leadup to it's release - but take all that out of it and I find this an extremely satisfying summer blockbuster. My family and I walked out of it so thrilled, we were all like "now THAT is a movie!"

Edit: NINJA'D! All right, I'll save "Affliction" then. It's cheesy to actually do a story explaining the makeup shift, but it's the kind of cheesy I like.

TNG Season 6: “Rightful Heir”
ENT Season 1: “Sleeping Dogs”
ENT Season 2: “Marauders”
ENT Season 4: “The Augments”
ENT Season 4: “Divergence”

I actually really loved the Klingon two-parter, so I will be saving "DIVERGENCE".

Maybe the two-parter wasn't necessary, but it was fun and I love how it combined both Bashir and O'Brien's theories.

Plus, Reed got some good scenes.

ENT Season 2: “Marauders”
ENT Season 4: “The Augments”

Usually I try to leave the final elimination for others, but I have GOT to save "The Augments" and make the idiotic "Marauders" the winner.

Catching "The Augments" many years after the fact was what finally inspired me to go back and watch all of Enterprise, after originally bailing on it early in season 2.

The plot of "Marauders" is just so dumb, and the Klingons have rarely seemed stupider. The big "defeat" of them at the end is agonizing to watch, it's so clunkily done. And, IIRC, there was absolutely nothing stopping the Klingons from coming right back to continue terrorizing the settlement as soon as Enterprise moved on.

A terrible episode from the worst season of Star Trek ever produced.
