Trek books fanart

I haven't seen a thread dedicated solely to book art yet (please redirect me if I missed one) so I thought it would be nice to open one :techman:

This isn't just for my art (although I obviously have something to share) and I would love to see any form of art by anyone that is of characters, ships or events that happen in Star Trek lit rather than on screen here. Please share!

I’m pretty sure we had threads like that in the past, but I actually welcome a brand new one even more. Please do share your work! :)

Made my first piece of book fanart today — here is that one scene from NF Gods Above, the book that I finished recently and talked about in my reading New Frontier thread.

The illustration shows Soleta mind melding with McHenry, who is apparently dead. Soleta's black hair seems to melt into a black void to the top half of the screen. This part shows the Inside of the mind meld, wherein she reaches out to a distant light that is the mind of McHenry. However, an explosion from behind and the victims thereof drag Soleta away. The explosion seems to bleed out of the inside of the meld and onto her uniform.

I like how the composition turned out (i sneakily put the title there after it seemed to fall off to the left side) and I'm glad I finally got around to making art of my favourite character from the series (Soleta.. who would have guessed?)

Wow! That's a very striking and stylish piece. I haven't read Gods Above, but I see this as a particularly harrowing mind meld scene (I've just read your post at the link which confirmed it).

I echo @Michael in welcoming this thread - I'd love to see more interpretations from Trek lit and hope to share some of my own at some point.

Ooh, that’s very nice, @Soleta! I like the composition and how the two layers complement each other. Both layers/scenes are very energetic and the overall color scheme (contrasting the cool teal with those warm hues) works really well! This wouldn’t look out of place as a legitimate book cover if I were to see that in the store. (Although I suspect David’s name recognition [and his agent] would probably demand putting his name the right side up. ;) )

star trek book fan art, eh? well i don't think i am allowed to post my pinup of Ael t'Rllaillieu.... thought i had a render of an old and lost cg model of the Bloodwing up on dA but...

here are a couple of ancient sketches of trying to figure out the Preybirds in Final Frontier, the novel about the Enterprise's first flight...

My personal take on some characters from the "Voyager" Relaunch novels, by Kirsten Beyer and Christie Golden.

And a version of Admiral Janeway, based on the cover for Kirsten Beyer's novel "Atonement," which I still haven't gotten around to reading.
