^ AFAIK, when NYC was in the running for the 2012 Olympics, Citi Field was going to be initially built as the Olympic stadium (much like Turner Field was in 1996). Linky

They were going to tear down all the chop shops and put up the press / broadcasting facilities in their place. Wonder how THAT would have gone down...

As for Citi as it is today: Not *completely* enclosed. You can still see outside of it in some places. Not like the cookie cutters, where you couldn't see a damn thing. God help the DC United and both Oakland teams, who still have to play in shitholes like that.
