MLB stadiums

Well, he was a felon who aided in illegal campaign contributions. But some fans like to ignore all that and just remember him as the public face of the Yankees, despite him being a crazy, mercurial bastard.
He also donated more than a fair share of money to children in need. Something that did not come out until after his death, so no, he isn't a mercurial bastard. If anything, he probably falls somewhere in between. All things considered though, I can easily forgive someone who did some shady things in regards to campaign financing if they also spent their money saving the lives of children.

From what I gather about the man from this thread, Steinbrenner was only morally gray.

And say what you like about the new Yankee Stadium...it is definitely a lasting legacy for the Boss. (I admit, though, that I'm not too crazy about the new Monument Park - it's too cramped.)

^ They're already calling it that.

Also: Looks like Citizens Bank Park is the first to let fans order food directly from their seats using their iPhones... Linky

Didn't a fan of one team run over the fan of another in a NH bar parking lot last year?

It's just a fucking game for cryin' out loud!

Those two are riff raff! Any upstanding fan would never, or at least should never, aggravate relations with fans of a rival team to the point of personal contempt, let alone violence.

Despicable!

Another thing:

I saw something on baseball-fever.com recently about how Dodger Stadium supposedly has separate entrances for every one of its levels, and that once fans enter a specific level, they are not able to move to another level. So you can't roam freely throughout the stadium like you can at other places. You Dodger fans (and anyone else who's been there), tell me, is this true?

Yes, it does.

It's one of the odd quirks about the stadium, like the gas station right behind the stadium in center field and the fact that there is only one, that's right ONE, way into and out of the parking lot (there is a for real reason why Dodger fans leave early - the traffic is horrendous getting out)

it would appear that there is more.

^ I'm not following...

I know why each level has its own entrance (it's because the stadium was built into the side of a hill). But I have been told that it is physically possible to move from one level to another, once you're inside. They just won't LET you do this. And that, IMHO, sucks, because when I visit a ballpark, I like to roam around the various levels and take pictures. I can't get every possible angle from just my own seat...

^I miss that dump. Spent many days and nights there.
My dad once said "it was a shitty place, but at least it was my shitty place"

While I'm not a Mets fan, I do sort of miss it myself ;)

I also miss Old Yankee Stadium. The new one is nice but a bit too corporate.

I am a Met *and* Yankee fan and while I do miss the old stadia (particularly old Yankee Stadium), I absolutely love the new ones. I don't think there's any point in getting all worked up over the loss. They're gone, we should just deal with it. Why not enjoy what we have?

Citi Field is the greatest improvement, of course. Shea, being a cookie cutter, really needed to go. (Thank God they never ended up enclosing Shea all around, like they thought of doing. The only reason Shea wasn't totally ass-ugly was that it was open at one end.)

That's the general consensus on the place. It was what I grew up on, so I never realized it was a pit until I got older and saw some of the newer parks like Camden Yards, etc.

^ Shea was better than the other cookie cutters for one simple yet obvious reason: it was open on one end.

Also, about Dodger Stadium: Apparently the 'Next 50' plan has been killed because of the McCourt shenanigans. :( One of the Next 50 alterations would have been a perimeter around the entire stadium which would be the new ticketed entrance, and then fans would be able to move among levels as they wished...

Yeah, and one could gaze out beyond center field and see the scenic environs of...the parking lot. I'm glad Citi is enclosed, there's nothing to see there except chop shops.
