Transition and explanation of SNW into TOS technology

Nothing against New Jersey the state.

You have Constitution, Enterprise, Exeter, Potemkin, Republic, Defiant, Hood. Then you have New Jersey.

It doesn’t match the naming scheme of the class, in any way.
Ah, IC.

Then what is the naming scheme of the original 13 Constitution Classes supoosed to be about?

Some of the other names don't fit with the other.

What does the Hood, Potemkin, Exeter represent?

The Constitution, Enterprise, Republic, Defiant at least are words that mirror the feelings of the founding of the US Constitution and the time it was created.

I get what Bill is saying, though. I personally would have loved if it was the original Constitution. And to me, the differences between the CGI model and the original filming model are so insignificant as to not be worth mentioning.

Which doesn’t matter now, because people watching TOS now only have the remastered versions to view either streaming or OTA.
That's pretty much true, but the OG VFX are still visible as select stills in the end credits. Granted, the abutment of incompatible configurations of the model(s) mentioned above can't be experienced.

So why didn’t they buy a model from a fan for the New Jersey?

We don't know what the origin of that particular model is.

Then what is the naming scheme of the original 13 Constitution Classes supoosed to be about?

My personal theory is that "Starship Class" vessels are named for older famous starships. Then eventually they changed the name of the class because everyone was getting confused.

These days I'd say as canon as 'The Cage' flashback in DSC, maybe? Pseudo-canon or quasi-canon, depending on if its supposed to be a literal flashback.

I wasn’t being serious. I don’t give two shits about canon and continuity.

Yeah but you're not alone, is all I'm saying. Broken continuity doesn't really bother most people here.

For me, story always comes first. Which is where CBS Trek largely fails for me. It just feels very “been there, done that, bought the comics and novels.

Multiple times in an episode, sometimes from one shot to the next?
Absolutely. For example we see this in a modern Star Trek movie too..

From one shot to the next they must have used different models as the nacelles have the glowy thing in the middle shot, right? :) But we know the nacelle configuration can change.

Why can't TOS? (Other than a rigidness from knowing too much about behind-the-scenes info?)

Maybe you guys are arguing the wrong thing about the lack of budget. The lack of budget is for animating in between different modes in TOS :D
