News Iron Fist season 2

I'm really surprised by Typhoid Mary being in this. If I had to guess, I was going to guess that she would appear in Jessica Jones. They would have had a really interesting dynamic, imo. Instead, it turned out to be
Jessica's mother
. I wonder what route they'll go with her here.

Oh, marvel tV shows. It will keep hating the source material as much as the movies love it, and I'm used to it by now.

Here's the full panel, although all of the exclusive footage is omitted:

This feels encouraging although I would've felt better if they allowed some of that footage to be available to the public now. I really loathe that kind of policy. At least not all panels are like that.

So now they bring an iconic element almost directly off the comic book panel, and you still aren't happy? There really is no pleasing you, is there?

Making a good show would please me. But, under Jeph Loeb, that won't be happening any time soon. The "iconic element" should have been what Danny wore from episode 1 of his first season, and worn consistently from then on. Plus, the season itself shouldn't have been shit. This is the marvel division that made/helped make Inhumans, IF Season 1, Agents of SHIELD season 4 and 5, Runaways and Jessica Jones (yeah its freaking bad, I don't care what some people think david Tennant is the only reason to watch JJ), and hasn't done a good show since Daredevil season 2 and Luke cage season 1. Even Punisher ended up just being boring, and Defenders was the biggest anti-climax in superhero tv history.

CW does better then this, and they haven't done a good show in years, either. But, at least their shitty shows aren't allergic to costumes, even if nowadays they treat the comics with almost as much hatred as Marvel tV does.

Really, when Ike Perlmutter and Jeph Loeb retire (although they probably won't, they;ll probably stick around until they die at this point), then Disney can have someone competent in charge of the Comics and TV divisions, and something good could come from marvel TV. Until then, they're still trying to coast on the successes of Daredevil, Luke cage Season 1, and Seasons 2, 3 and parts of 4 of Agents of SHIELD, but that doesn't excuse all the shit they've made and continue to make.

These two interviews with MTV are even more reassuring than the panel:

The biggest highlights for me are what Alice Eve said about mental illness in relation to her playing Typhoid Mary, the relationship between Colleen and Misty, and the heavy work the whole cast put in with the new stunt coordinator, Clayton Barber, who worked on Black Panther.

I didn't realize that the crappy reboot Carol Marcus was in this. I wonder how many times she'll be shown stripping down for no reason in Iron Fist?

Do me a favor, okay? Watch the interview. Alice proves in it that she's an incredibly smart person and has clearly thought this character through. Please try not to judge her for one shitty role in one shitty film.

Honestly, I was trying to take a shit on Star Trek Into Darkness more then that specific actress. I'm sure she's fine, I don't blame her for Abrams and the writers of that movie acting like horny 14 year olds. To be fair to Into darkness, I consider it a "so bad its entertaining" film. I can't say that about Iron Fist, and I doubt Season 2 will get there, either. Still, at worst she's just guilty of picking bad projects, but a job is a job I suppose. Although if she's stuck doing sequels to shows so bad that should have been cancelled immediately, she doesn't have a lot of stuff lining up I guess (I can't imagine anyone, including the actors playing IF and Colleen Wing, would choose to be in Iron Fist at this point if they didn't have a contract or no other choice).

Not every actor in a bad show is necessarily bad. I mean, Finn Jones is atrocious in everything I've seen him in, he's definitely the IF that the show deserves, but in the end its the show itself that is the major problem. Really, the show's only entertainment value is as a easy target for jokes and insults.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the interview.

I also didn't bother with any trailers or promotional material for Jessica Jones Season 2, another bad show I never watched (although unlike Iron Fist I did suffer through the first season of that). I haven't even bothered with Luke Cage Season 2 even though I liked Season 1, because of how badly Defenders burned me out of the Netflix shows, even the two (Daredevil and LC) that weren't shit.

But regardless, why would a interview matter? Do they admit they're only making the show out of obligation? Do they admit that their first season was an abomination, and that there is no reason to do a season 2? I'm not going to watch the show, and they aren't going to tell the truth. I personally am not a fan of studio propaganda, no matter how obvious it is.

And yet that doesn't stop you from coming into these threads and bitching about these shows.

At first it was just a bit of discussion, then I took a few jabs. Its Iron Fist, if you don't think its going to be rightfully shit on, you aren't familiar with the show. I don't have to fulfill special requirements to discuss a show.

I've seen the show and I was highly critical of it, while enjoying other parts.

My point is that's in the past. The purpose of this thread is looking forward to the second season in the hope that it has learned from it's mistakes and the videos I've posted have indicated that might be the case. You, however, are much more interested in assuming the show will continue to be shit while not even considering the possible evidence to the contrary.

But that's your call sign: Judge without merit or experience, judge on your own gut feeling as if that was the only thing that mattered.

Oh yeah, because there is no merit to saying a season of Iron Fist will be shit :vulcan: Again, in my opinion the Marvel netflix shows have only succeeded in three seasons (two of DD, one of LC) out of all the stuff they've done, and IF is the worst of the bad stuff. Its not going to turn itself around, even if (to go back to what started this) they acknowledge a little bit of the real Iron Fist in a small scene (probably a flashback to before he beat a dragon offscreen). They also say the upcoming show is going to be good. There is no reason to believe they learned from season one, because generally speaking Marvel's TV division isn't big on learning from mistakes. The closest they've come is realizing that they can't keep hiring Scott buck.If they had actually learned anything, they wouldn't have done a second season of IF.

The folks at Io9, who were merciless toward season 1, were very optimistic about the footage that they saw at SDCC.
You mean the same io9 that called the reveal that the mixed-race young woman at Barry and Iris' wedding was actually their daughter from the future, which everyone assumed to be the case back in October, "one hell of a shocker"? The io9 which gushes over just about everything at least up to the points of its release, presumably for better access? ;)

You know, Typhoid Mary will be the first (and probably last) character that will benefit from the Netflix shows hating the comics, because her comic look is awful so the show just portraying her as Alice Eve in a dress is preferable to the terrible comic design. Also, kudos to them for not ruining a good villain by putting them in IF. Mary wouldn't fit in the DD show anyway, so she's the kind of d-list villain that is perfect for IF (isn't very interesting, is fairly obscure, and is pretty useless to the other shows anyway).

Since the Netflix shows have already ruined the Hand with IF Season 1 and the Defenders, and the Netflix shows have made Steel Serpent into a drug instead of the name being for IF's main arch enemy, they have no actual villains left for Iron Fist. Hopefully the show won't have a season 3, but if Netflix refuses to cancel it hopefully they'll stick with choosing worthless villains for the worthless show, and not waste anyone that might actually work in one of their better shows like Daredevil or Luke Cage.

I really enjoyed IF during its initial season, although the fight scenes were certainly underwhelming. I am looking for an improvement in that area, and I never have had any real problems with how the source material has been reinterpreted in the Netflix series. It does disappoint me that they shied away from Danny's costume so far and I'm hoping that that will change. I am also disappointed we can't get cameos from some of the movie characters in the Netflix shows, especially those from New York. I realize the actors are probably expensive but you'd think that Marvel Studios could work out some sort of deal.

You know, I've been reading your comments and I'm kind of getting the impression that maybe you don't like the Iron Fist show very much? I could be wrong, but if that's the case, wouldn't it be better to just not watch the show and stay away from comment threads about it? :)
