Game The Most Disliked Holodeck Episode, 2025 Edition

"Su'Kal" is such a deserved win for making him the cause of The Burn. It was just so stupid.

I'll even put "THESE ARE THE VOYAGES..." above it, despite my intense hatred of that episode. It did give us that final scene of Kirk, Picard, and Archer and their voiceover... which is the only thing I can defend on that episode.

I was amazed to see TATV get removed from the chopping block so soon. It normally ranks up there with Spirit Folk in the lists of holodeck disasters.

But, all these episodes need is one fan who's willing to face down the herd. Something that (obviously) I admire.

I am one of the few that doesn't mind the concept of Su'Kal being the cause of the Burn... but ugh to that execution. So many of the details of the way they told that story are just idiotic.

The whole season would have been vastly improved if the Burn wasn't so far in the past. Whenever all those characters would gravely say their lines about "our lives have been so different since the Burn" -- they set it ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY YEARS BEFORE THESE EVENTS! To all these 32nd century characters, the circumstances created by the Burn would have been the only thing they'd ever known, it would have just been the air they breathed.

And you also wouldn't have had to deal with idiocy like the specific individual who caused the Burn still being alive, which makes no sense for the Kelpiens, even with Star Trek longevity.

EDIT to keep ranting: oh god, and the following season, when they had the Disco characters play SMUG in reaction to people being afraid of another Burn. "The science is clear, there is NO RISK of another Burn."

Really? Because the story you showed us established that all it takes is one random alien crash landing on one random planet, and that's all it takes to nearly destroy the whole universe. The science has proven there will no longer be any random crash landings anywhere in the entire galaxy going forward?

That ep made me give up on The Voyage(s) of the Space Beagle for good. I haven't watched an ep of ENT since then.
