Well they're all pretend at the end of the day lol its how the actors perform make it to be believable.Because it's a bland little plastic dome with lots of little pretend-electronic "instruments" that move randomly* and don't look as if they're doing anything useful. It's the most 70s imagining of "the future" you could imagine, and - the most important thing - it's dreary. Empty. Ugly.
And if i appear dismissive of some opinions, it's because I'm dismissive of some opinions.
Absolutely. The energy of those bridges hum like a C-i-C or bridge of a carrier. It has data at the fingertips and everyone uses their posts well. One of my favourite Bridges of all time. They knocked it outta the park with the Kelvin.![]()
Isn't there a door there in TAS?Just look at the set plans and you'll see how closely they emulated the TOS Bridge.
Yes, it's bigger. Yes, it has another door and a large viewscreen/windows.... but the shape is the same. The number of seats and consoles is the same. The layout is the same. It feels like THE BRIDGE of THE ENTERPRISE.
Inherited from the TOS bridge. Same layout as SNW, as HotRod illustrated.I never thought TMP ere dull. Think it's one of the more practical sets. Every stations is close to the Captain's chair with 360 degree views of the full bridge.
Wasn't it swapped in Where No Man Has Gone Before? Also I wonder why they swapped Nav and Helm in SNW.

Una is at helm and on the left in the Cage.Wasn't it swapped in Where No Man Has Gone Before?
The Kelvin's bridge is nice. I kind of wish the Enterprise's bridge in those movies was done more along the same lines as it as opposed to what we actually got.One of my favourite Bridges of all time. They knocked it outta the park with the Kelvin.![]()
Yeah, definitely. I understand wanting the timeline beyond 2233 to look different from what we saw before, but I think they went a little to far. Just another reason why the SNW Bridge is so awesome, it's updated and modernized, while still being instantly recognizable as The Bridge of The Enterprise. The Kelvin's bridge is nice. Peak TMP bridge set was the modified and short-lived Star Trek IV set. First use of Okudagrams, so that in itself makes it pretty iconic. A lot of those bridge consoles would still hold up today, with very little alteration. In your opinion.
Couldn't agree with you at all.
TMP is highly cinematic and them sets have had more longevity than any other in Star Trek history.
Yeah, it's difficult to reconcile it with future iterations of the Enterprise without those ships being heavily updated themselves. Judging by the comments here, I wouldnt have thought that the TMP era bridge could ever be acceptable as the successor to the SNW bridge. And that's really quite fair. Now with that said, the issue I have with the SNW Enterprise bridge is that, while updated and modernized while still being instantly recognizable as the bridge of the Enterprise NCC-1701, it now looks so advanced that it makes the bridges of every Enterprise that came after it look outdated in comparison. Same with Engineering, and other sets.
I gotta admit whilst I'm not crazy about the SNW's sets and ship designs, it does look better with that colour and lighting scheme.I must be weird, because I actually prefer the version of the Strange New Worlds bridge they first showed on Discovery
Same, I thought it was a really good evolution from Discovery's Aesthetic to a modern TOS one. I also like the Enterprise uniforms better from this era, wish they'd stuck around a little longer.I must be weird, because I actually prefer the version of the Strange New Worlds bridge they first showed on Discovery. Love the cooler color scheme and how nice it looks with the red highlights. Plus, I thought those corridors behind the consoles were a neat idea. (Images courtesy of the Roddenberry Project.)

The uniforms are ok. Glad they didn't use the discovery blue jumpsuits not a fan of them.I also like the Enterprise uniforms better from this era, wish they'd stuck around a little longer.
Yeah not a fan of any tight uniforms in general, can image it must be horrible for the actors, having to really watch your physique. The Discovery versions looked a little awkward and somehow way too tight.
The tight uniform costumes were probably uncomfortable and hard to do anything besides walking a short distance too.Yeah not a fan of any tight uniforms in general, can image it must be horrible for the actors, having to really watch your physique.
I didn't like that asymmetrical collar thing they had going either.
