To Mildly Go Hither And Yawn. ;)

IMO, Events from "ENTERPRISE" (and "First Contact") are the most logical reasons that establish a precedent to believe that the Prime Timeline has been altered just enough to account for all of the changes we are seeing in DISCOVERY. (and any future Trek shows/movies)
For me, this establishes a linear rational that TOS still happened the way it did, but now we've moved into somewhat unknown territory in a slightly altered Prime Universe.

It's almost like I can eat my cake and have it too!
Yup!

Some DSC fans love to discuss what they like about the show and other fans prefer discussing what they don't like about the show. But we're all fans, of one sort or another, and we love posting about the show, reading responses to those posts, and then answering those responses in kind. It's a whole thing. ;)

Egads, times have changed. Back in the "golden age" of online message boards (like AOL or similar) you'd been excoriated. Metaphorically burned at the stake for proffering such an enlightened posting. :techman:

Kind of miss those days sometimes.

ST:TMP's budget overrun wasn't entirely Roddenberry's fault, the first round of SpFx were so bad (even for the TV version first planned) that they had to pay Trumbull a whole bunch extra to completely redo them.

Gene Roddenberry's tainted reputation for producing motion pictures went beyond Star Trek and to his inability to reign in director Roger Vadim or efficiently produce "Pretty Maids All In A Row" in 1971. He was also a notorious pain in the rumble seat for them to deal with and to an extent that surpassed his perceived worth based on previous performance.

As producer, Star Trek: The Next Generation was his only real credited success everything else had an asterisk next to it.
