I’ve been all in on Ethan Peck’s Spock from the first second he was on Discovery. ‪‪Spock is one of the characters I feel most attached to, not just in Trek, but in all fiction, and I’m so happy to see him portrayed by someone who cares about the character and his legacy as much as Ethan seems to.

A lot of the content of this one feels like it’s from an Amok Time prequel, and new T’Pring looks great.

Uh, yeah. Cool.

I'm sure that there will be some cavils if Spock is shown in flashback having to go through the ritual combat thing to get laid, given that it seemed to be an unexpected and highly unusual choice when T'Pring calls for it in "Amok Time." Guess we'll see. But they sure outdid themselves there recreating and enhancing that Vulcan combat set.*


*Sorry, not gonna lean to spell Calgon-filigree or whatever the Vulcans call it.

I guess that's their VR wall. Interestingly, the set area with platforms, props etc. in which the actors work doesn't seem much bigger, if at all, than that of the TOS set.

Nice to see the ahn'woon and lirpa again! This series is a masterclass in how to update the look of a 1960s sci-fi show for 2020s television, yet still be true to the original.

I love it! So far, they seem to be getting the overall vibe of TOS here. The bit of banter with Spock, Uhura and Pike is very much in line with the TOS style.

Ethan Peck really seems to be doing a great job as Spock, by not trying to do a flat Nimoy impression (Tim Russ?) but more taking what Nimoy and Quinto have done, and filtering that through what he's adding.

I'm loving these character trailers, and the little glimpses are so far better than what I expected!

I’d caught the confirmation of T’Pring’s appearance from the Investor’s Day trailer, but hadn’t read anything about her casting.

Dorothy must be spinning in her grave with the kissing scene, unless context in the actual show makes it better. Vulcans are not supposed show affection by kissing, but rather by the two-fingered stroking gesture Sarek and Amanda demonstrated in "Journey to Babel."

Unless, perhaps, there's a story point about breaking cultural taboos or Spock and T'Pring being Vulcan kinksters.
