I remember seeing a page with the rank insignia's drawn in pencil but I can't find it now, did Robert Fletcher commit his designs to paper & can someone direct me to a copy?

It is interesting to note that the descriptions his non-com ranks were ignored as the recent It's a Wrap auctions reveal. See my not quite finished article
Am I mistaken or did someone else design the rank pin for Fleet Captain, not Robert Fletcher, that's why the rank isn't depicted in his drawings?

It might well be that Fleet Captain and Lieutenant Commander were both designed by Shane Johnson for their appearance in his Mr Scott's Guide to the Enterprise. Or at least they were designed by somebody in time for publication of that book.
Fletcher would for his part design the "real" Lieutenant Commander pin that would be used in subsequent movies - but he wouldn't acknowledge Fleet Captain, and this pin would never be produced for onscreen use.

Fleet Captain may not be an offical rank and the rank pin may not be canon but the unoffical rank pin is a nice design, "if" the rank were to be established in a movie the rank pin could, should be used.

Is Fletcher still alive? Has anyone ever asked him about these other "non-canon" rank devices? It would put a lot of these questions to rest.
