2) Sharing nonsensical conpiracy theory videos isn't a good way to try and open a discussion

I am a bit dismayed by the ugliness shown here. I have called no one names nor been harsh or rude in my responses. People have raised points that I have responded to but I have not personally endorsed any judgement regarding Discovery.

We're only commenting on how stupid the video and its producers are.

And then questioning your ability to intelligently converse on a subject upon which you only know a fraction of the relevant details.

I watched this video and it made my eyes rain. I was finally getting myself up to giving Discovery a chance only to find it's all a plot to ditch the prime timeline despite the fact the prime timeline is the one that makes money. And their all out assault on Trek fandom! If you don't like Discovery you are homophobic, misogynistic, and other bad things. Crazy!

If I had taken it as gospel I would not have solicited opinions regarding it from those I reasonably felt would be in the know. There were kernels of truth and things that are reasonably plausible in the video. The conclusions are suspect. I did say that I could have an issue of confirmation bias going on - like a FOX News story that plays to people's fears this video resonating with me could be for that reason. I have been most sincere and forthright in my discussions here.

I guess the old "If you don't like it, don't watch!" has to be replaced with something else. "If you don't like it, and you don't watch it, why are you still obsessing over it?" After a certain point, why not move on?

His first post didn't come off in the best way it could have. But I got the feeling he was just down over Discovery from what the video presented. The rest of the posts seem to acknowledge he could have gotten bad information.

The response to this thread has been nothing short of embarrassing for the forum.
Don't like Midnight conspiracy theory videos, fine, neither do I. But this is hardly the first time they've come up and I expect some level of adult behaviour in response to one being posted. Either ignore it, or point out the problems nicely to the new poster looking to discuss it.
