They are going for mainstream fans and, now, global box office. Domesticly (USA) you'd be surprised how little the mainstream keeps track of Star Trek. The general consumer can, and is, easily confused ... Constantly. Globally it's even worse. Again, CBS makes money off of ALL merch while Paramount does not - they only get a piece of Kelvin Timeline Star Trek. So if Paramount puts out a Star Trek movie and license merchandise and CBS license PT Star Trek merchandise that stuff gets stocked side by side. That's competition. The general public seeing all sorts of different faces and styles creates brand confusion.
CBS gets the money from the Kelvin stuff too. It's win/win for them.

Soooo much fun...amirite???

Why watch something when you can watch internet idiots spin conspiracy theories about it instead?

I don't understand the point of discussing something you've never watched.

Then don't.

I've stated that I have watched the first 2 (maybe 3) episodes.

I simply watched and shared a video I found interesting and am sincerely curious as to what others may think and why.

It is why we are here is it not?

I've never seen so many people talk about a show they don't watch.

I guess the old "If you don't like it, don't watch!" has to be replaced with something else. "If you don't like it, and you don't watch it, why are you still obsessing over it?" After a certain point, why not move on?

But you don't know what you're talking about if you haven't watched it.

first 2 episodes =/= knowing everything about the show

I love it because it drives up the "demand expression" numbers, which apparently mean something to somebody in this age of streaming.

1) If you've only seen two or three episodes of Discovery, you haven't seen Discovery

2) Sharing nonsensical conpiracy theory videos isn't a good way to try and open a discussion

That doesn't look fun at all. All that popcorn with just that small cup of soda? Torture.
FREE REFILLS...
:techman:

Also...
I have found that those particular videos, add just a smidgen of actual facts to make the rest of their wild, off-the-cuff guesses, seem plausible.

Conspirator, nosce te ipsum.
