I watched this video and it made my eyes rain. I was finally getting myself up to giving Discovery a chance only to find it's all a plot to ditch the prime timeline despite the fact the prime timeline is the one that makes money. And their all out assault on Trek fandom! If you don't like Discovery you are homophobic, misogynistic, and other bad things. Crazy!

We are under assault? Time to abandon the canon -- and load the cannon!

Because they're horrible, lie, use bad sources, generally unreliable.

They once claimed CBS didn't own TOS and that the show would be in the Kelvin Timeline.
Both that turned out false.

I don't reject what you say. I am a bit conflicted though because it does bring a rationale to why they seem so determined to make the prime timeline irrelevant. That could be confirmational bias on my part though. Will ponder.

They're determined to make a TV show and that's about it. They've no interest in making Prime "irrelevant" or anything else.

In two-or-so years of covering Disco, has that guy ever been right once -- I mean aside from when he states the obvious?
Didn't Midnight's Edge say that it was going to be delayed into infinity and was never intended to be actually finished or am I thinking of some other YouTube channel.

Except, and this came out years ago when JJ Abrams jumped ship to SW, one of the things he was pissed about was the continued licensing of prime timeline merchandise. That he was assured that pre-Kelvin Universe would no longer be promoted.

So some, not all, of the individual points raised in the video are from stories I read in Variety, THR, Deadline or similar sources over the years.

Why the hell would they stop licensing prime timeline merchandise? That doesn't make sense on any possible level.

The Prime timeline should've been put out of its misery in 2005. But, the folks in the above video don't have a clue. They are simply pumping stuff out to garner clicks and make money.

Not sure how Abrams "jumping ship" proves the point. The folks in charge obviously want the Prime stuff.
I seriously doubt he was promised any such thing.

I'm willing to bet all those sources are just repeating the same BS from the same BS source. That how things work these day. Idiot says "X" and "X" is repeated by other idiots.

One answer could be because it creates a brand confusion and competition. A schism.

Another could be, as stated in the video (so take it for what that's worth), it reduces the merch money Paramount and Bad Robot would get.

Or both.

Many plausible reasons.
