Big Brother 19

You're not required to be there for 'Who wants to see my HoH room' but it's an established show tradition and not being there is a snub and sign of intentional disrespect.
Okay, so it's established that Cody is only a minuscule more polite than Jessica, and he just stood there giving off hostile vibes to everyone. He didn't show off his own HoH room, or at least if he did, it wasn't shown.

He very likely couldn't care less about the traditions of the show. All he's there to do is pick off everyone else and get the money. He doesn't even seem to understand that part of the purpose of the show is to have a little fun along the way.

Nitpick: Every time I see him or Jessica wear that baseball cap with the frayed brim, I want to reach into the TV with a pair of scissors and snip off the frayed threads. For some reason that really bugs me.

We don't know what other potential situations caused people to turn on Megan, as the feeds don't start until the first episode airs, at which point they've already been in the house for over a week. Megan left the house the morning before feeds started.

I am actually liking this cast a lot, because we have an interesting mix of personalities. Kevin and Alex are my favorites. I of course don't like Cody or Jessica, so I'm glad to see that one of them is very likely going home this week. I don't hate or love Paul. Mark, Elena, Matt, and Raven are probably the least interesting people.

Christmas actually does have two broken bones in her foot. She left the house for the whole day to go to a hospital, then left again a few days later for an MRI. She has surgery scheduled for Wednesday. I'm really surprised they're letting her stay, we'll see what happens after surgery. I think that if Megan hadn't left, they wouldn't be so lenient in letting Christmas stay. Typically an injury like this takes someone out of the game.

Interestingly, both sides STILL think that Kevin voted with them. They both trust him completely. It's kind of hilarious!

Have we seen people leave Big Brother for injury? In Survivor they only evacuate people for life threatening injuries, and this certainly isn't life threatening. It would seem a little jerkish if in a more comfortable setting they made Christmas decide between walking on an untreated broken foot for three months or quitting the game.

Edit: Also judging by the temptation, Christmas just happens to be the most popular newbie in the house.

I keep forgetting Elena even exists. My first reaction when she was one of the ones chosen for the veto competition was, "Who???".

Here's hoping we see the last of Cody tomorrow. About the only thing that could ruin it would be if Ramses or Alex does something monumentally stupid to get everyone so mad at them that Cody stays.

I wonder if that might not be part of why Paul used the veto on Josh. He (Josh) isn't the brightest bulb there - he reminds me a lot of Big Moose in the Archie comics, but without the Midge factor. Right now he gives the impression of being big and dumb, and he said himself he's a "mama's boy." But he's had some meltdowns, so it's best for Paul's plan if Josh isn't a potential target this time.

So barring anything from left field, I'm looking forward to Cody hopping out the door in his ridiculous frog costume. I wonder if he'll crack a smile for Julie or just stare at her, giving off hostile "I-hate-you" vibes.

I hope Cody goes away but he's right about one thing, the rest of the house fawning over Paul.

Hopefully he can't just ride to the end and needs to work harder against real opposition to do it.

By the way, is anyone keeping tabs on whether Cameron and Jillian are at home? Do we know for a fact that they aren't in sequester somewhere waiting for a chance to get back in the game?

People fawned over Paul last time, as well. Remember Paulie? He turned out to be a violent, misogynistic, racist jackass. So I don't think Paul himself is the problem, and considering that I didn't like him last time, this is quite a change of mind for me. Right now I'm rooting for him to win.

Dunno about Cameron or Jillian. I don't particularly care. If they get a second chance, it'll happen. I imagine they've already had to tweak some things due to Megan quitting and Christmas getting injured.

I only care because I want zero chance if Cody coming back. I forget, did they show Jillian goodbye messages?

I imagine Megan quitting will just result in one fewer double eviction.

I think the reason Paul vetoed Josh is his temperament. There is a risk Josh explodes at someone and goes home instead of Cody.

They haven't shown any goodbye messages, nor have they shown any after-eviction chats with Julie.

That suits me fine. I'm not really entertained by the houseguests having to make such decisions so quickly.

Agreed.

WHAT THE SIXTH-LETTER-OF-THE-ALPHABET-U-C-K WERE THEY THINKING???!

I'm referring to both the people who voted to evict Ramses, AND the Battle Back competition.

Of course Cody will win it - and his hostility will just keep on infesting the house and ruining any chance of my enjoying the show this season.

And what's with these HoH competitions that don't end during the show? If it's just to get people to pay $$ to watch the rest of it live, then CBS is basically giving the middle finger to Canadian viewers, since they know perfectly well that we can't legally access that.

And note to CBS: This is a rerun of the same competition that has been done so many times in the past. But seriously, if you're going to have an outer space theme this time, there is no liquid water in outer space. If you're going to throw anything at the players, how about rocks?

(not real ones, obviously)

I think they just don't want to restrict HoH comps to ten minute ones. It's a logistical problem when there are 13 people in the house and not enough passed events to trivia.

Hopefully they evict a challenge monster this week who can beat Psycho Stoneface.

Who do you think has the best chance of that?

(It's a shame the remaining house guests don't know about the Battle-back, although hopefully Paul might suspect something).

Cody will be back in the house come Thursday. Even if the whole thing is tied to the Den of Temptation, we know these HG's will take it.

Battle backs are usually endurance comps and if so Psycho Stoneface will have an advantage but it's not a given. In a mental comp Cameron would have a shot.

So Christmas' foot is basically toast, as far as having complete range of movement, with arthritis to look forward to.

I suppose CBS isn't going to be compensating her, as I imagine they all had to sign waivers saying they wouldn't sue if anything happened that wasn't due to CBS' negligence. Sad to say, Christmas brought this on herself, by carelessly horsing around.

I wonder who the replacement nominee will be if either Jessica or Dominique get vetoed?

Have we seen people leave Big Brother for injury?

In season 13 Evel Dick was pulled from the game, just before the live feeds came on, for medical reasons. We weren't told the details at the time, but later he revealed that it was because he was HIV positive, and in a recent article said that they didn't give him a choice, they told him he had to leave. Normally such tests are done before anyone enters the house, but apparently they decided very last minute that season to bring back the returning houseguests, so they brought them in and then did the tests. I'm sure they learned their lesson there.

Thankfully there haven't been any injuries as major as Christmas', if I remember correctly. Though in past seasons when some houseguests have had minor injuries that could have turned out to be worse, they were told they might have to leave for good. For example, I think there was someone with an infected tooth a couple of years ago, and they were told that if they needed surgery they wouldn't be able to come back to the game. Of course, who knows what really would have happened, had it gotten that bad.

:wtf: Given his willingness to be violent, that could have had some pretty awful consequences.

I didn't even think about them being tested for HIV; it makes sense, though.

Honestly, I think Christmas is insane for staying in. She can't actually think she's got any chance of winning, even if everyone gives her a sympathy vote. She simply won't be able to participate in enough of the physical competitions.

Feel horrible for Christmas. She's a serious athlete and now can't compete anymore.

I wouldn't blame Christmas or the show. Some freak accidents just happen.

An infected tooth could be deadly. Somebody contracting HIV in the house would be a disaster for the show. A broken foot is just painful.

If this was Survivor, she'd have been pulled already.

It just occurred to me that Christmas may have decided to stay in hopes that she might get chosen as "America's Favorite" or that she could wangle some sort of job out of this. If CBS won't help with her medical bills, she's going to need a lot of money.

Survivor only pulls people for life threatening injuries, otherwise they get a choice. Just a couple seasons ago didn't a woman stay in with a broken foot?

I disagree Christmas has no chance. Challenges will only hurt her toward the end, she could easily make a deep run then win trivia comps toward the end.

I wouldn't presume how much money Christmas has or does not have saved but she'll probably end up super depressed. Job wise I think she'll be fine in the end, she could get TV announcer gigs for Crossfit comps or be a personal trainer.

I honestly don't remember. I know that it has to be pretty bad before they pull someone - severe infections, head injuries, severe heat stroke, etc.

But it was made clear that CBS is not going to change any of the competitions to compensate for her injury, and there are some she simply will not be able to do. If any of those are veto competitions and she's on the block, she could end up being evicted without having had the chance to even try to save herself. And we know that part of the final competition is a grueling physical challenge.
