Big Brother Season 26 (2024) / Survivor Season 47 (2024)

Having good eyesight is different from having good awareness.

I was rooting for the Cookout because, let's face it, every season before that had like 90% white guys and although in general black people weren't technically voted out for being black, it did make it more difficult for them to culturally fit in and get footing in the social game.

Although I do think that either Xavier or Chelsie could have still won on one of the 90% white seasons.

I'm starting to get into watching previous seasons of The Challenge. The thing about The Challenge is even though most of the players came from MTV shows full of obnoxious exhibitionists, they have much more recurring players per season than other reality shows, so everyone knows each other outside of the game and it makes for more complex social dynamics.

I'd be curious to see how Xavier would do on TAR. Chelsie would probably do well at Survivor.

Also worth noting. There are 12 people left in this season of Challenge. Among them, Josh and Kyland from Big Brother, Michelle from Survivor.

So... not a lot of thoughts on recent Survivor episodes? (my computer was having a lot of conniptions at times, so that's my valid excuse for not posting recently)

I actually teared up a bit at Kyle's departure. That was unexpectedly classy of him.

Genevieve can go any time. Hopefully she's next. I'm not keen on Teeny, either, since she doesn't seem to actually do anything.

Right now, the person I want to win is Rachel.

It looks like Rachel is probably going to win now, the heavy favorite for the final challenge and then the heavy favorite in the jury. If she somehow loses fire making, Sam seems the favorite, but I see Sue getting votes if Sam acts entitled and she tells a good story. Only player I can't imagine winning is Teeny.

Andy was playing such a good game until he overplayed his hand and identified himself a threat.

One thing I'm finding by watching old seasons of The Challenge, there are a *lot* of ejections for violence. Probably having to do with the sort of people who get cast on MTV reality shows combined with the fact they put them in a mansion with all the alcohol they can drink. CT got ejected for fighting two seasons in a row and still got called back several times.

Whereas in Big Brother there are what, 4 people who got ejected for violence and 2 in Survivor?

I don't watch The Challenge, so I don't have any valid opinions about that.

Big Brother should have gotten serious about curbing violence years before they actually did it. Evil Dick should have been tossed within 5 minutes of burning Jen with a cigarette, because it was no accident. He did that deliberately.

Survivor... I think I missed about 3 seasons during a time when I didn't have a working TV/access to cable, so if any excessive violence happened then, I wouldn't have seen it. All I remember is when they kicked Russell out.

They should have booted Richard Hatch for sexual assault, in the episode where Sue quit. She shouldn't have had to quit to feel safe that season, and shame on Jeff and the producers for not being on her side from the get-go.

I don't get why they didn't boot him immediately, they seemed to think because he was gay it was any different than if a straight person did it. It's a blessing he got voted out that night.

Dick's second season I didn't watch because I was so mad they had a chance to put people like Will & Mike in and instead voted in the two least likable couples in BB history. They didn't kick him out right away?

Besides that they've been pretty on top of it. Scott in season 4, immediate ejection. What's his name in season 2 holding the knife to Krista's throat, immediate ejection. Willie Hantz headbutting Joe, immediate ejection, and I can't think of any other instances where a person was violent.

Come to think of it the only seasons I didn't watch were the winter season and that season.

For all the terrible seasons Big Brother has had, only those two were so bad they made me just not watch them. First because I thought it was so stupid they matched people up as couples and didn't match up the real life couple and to boot let one person eliminate an entire couple singlehandedly without a vote. And second because I was so pissed they let back in Brendon, Rachel, Jeff and Jordan, some of the most obnoxious people in the game's history, when Will, Mike, Hayden and Enzo were options.

Thank god Amazing Race finally lost their boner for those four.

The way Sam handled those questions I was worried he was going to swap the jury but thankfully the right person won.

Looking forward to having both a Survivor and an Amazing Race season going in the winter.

That'll be nice.

I'm glad Rachel won, and surprised that for once, the one I wanted to win actually did.

Somebody brought up an interesting point on one of the YT channels. How would the voting go if the jurors were all sequestered from each other, without the ability to form a group opinion even before the final tribal council?

Looking forward to new Survivor and AR seasons but I want to take this opportunity to vent about something in the Challenge finale.

Basically they made it so every section of the finale starts and ends with a long swim. Usually the skills that win are much more varied except general cardio/endurance. But it basically gave a huge unfair advantage to one player who does triathlons and a huge unfair disadvantage to Kyland from BB because he's a poor swimmer.

The Turkish version of Survivor starts in January every year and continues until June. It is broadcasted in 150-minute episodes 6-7 days a week. And in our country, the jury does not determine the winner. It is determined by the public vote. Big Brother was broadcasted for 1 season in our country but it did not catch on.

I'm not personally that interested in a public vote format just cause I'd rather watch a strategy game than a popularity contest. But I like they have secondary prizes that are popularity votes.

I'm intrigued by the broadcast schedule though. Is it actually broadcast live? Like a five month long survival challenge, do they have to find most of their own food or are they given a lot of food?

It is not broadcast live, either the episode is filmed 1 week before or a few days before or a few hours before it is broadcast and broadcast. Only the finals where the winner is determined are live, they used to film it in Cyprus, now they film it in Istanbul. The program itself is filmed in the Dominican Republic. A total of 3 thousand people work in each nation in its production. The producer and presenter Acun Ilıcalı's production company produces this program in 10 countries including Greece and Romania. In Turkey, only the first season in 2005 was produced by another production company and presenter. But it was not watched. In 2006, Acun Ilıcalı bought the program and managed to show it to the Turkish people. This guy also did Deal or No Deal. And he made the program watch it somehow, but those who made that program before and after it could not make it watch it. Survivor was made to be broadcast 2-3 days a week on Turkish channels such as Kanal D, Show TV and Star TV. Then Acun Ilıcalı bought a channel called TV8. They broadcast MasterChef Turkey part of the year, Survivor part of the year and also broadcast The Voice Turkish version one day a week. The man has an interesting football career that started with football reporters in Turkey and the media career, including being the vice president of a football club in Turkey and owning a football club in England.

The rewards dealt out now are insanely luxurious in comparison to the first season. I remember one of the first-season people winning a single slice of pizza, and he generously shared with everyone else so all of them got a bite.

I know the game isn't as physically tough as it used to be, but I know there's two major reasons they let them bring more changes of clothes now. 1, because there used to be lots of UTIs from not having clean clothes and 2, because they used to be forced to cuddle up at night with people they didn't necessarily want to.

But I wish they'd go back to 39 days.

The main reason is that due to the pressure from the Radio and Television Supreme Council, the production company and therefore the channel banned the competitions where female contestants only wear bikinis and male contestants only wear shorts. That's why all the contestants wear T-shirts.
