DS9 won season 6 with 57 percent of the vote. On to Season 7.

I thought Voyager was pure garbage by this point and I only tuned in for the last episode, which I had issues with.TNG had an awesome finale plus some good ones in between:Maquis setup,Genesis(one of my favorites) ,The Pegasus,etc.. But I still think DS9 wins big even though it had a few clunkers in the beginning. I loved the siege of ar-(whatever),Inta arma enim silent legas,It's only a paper moon, plus the entire final arc was awesome leading up to the big finale. What a way to go.

DS9: I love Badda Bing Badda Bang, AR-558, It's Only a Paper Moon, Take Me Out to The Holosuite, and of course the final arc.

Great - I get to be the first person to post and make a case for TNG. Would I be right to assume that we're going to get a bunch of people voting DS9? Alllllllllllrighty then...

The seventh season of DS9 is even more overrated than the sixth season - I just don't get what people see in it. There are a lot of mediocre episodes in there.

On the other hand, TNG had a lot of stand-out episodes - 'Parallels' and 'Lower Decks' to name but a few. For me, DS9 had nothing that reached this level.

Prediction: the next 18 people posting ahead of me are going to say DS9.

Request: please give me a couple of DS9 episodes that you feel are 10/10 or "A+" material. I do think DS9 is better overall than TNG as a series in terms of quality, but the seventh season really was a definite disappointment.

An easy request if ever there was one:

Once more unto the Breach,The Siege of Ar-558,Inter Arma Enim silent Legas,What You Leave Behind as well as 8 out of the final 10 episode arc.TNG doesn't even come close.

Alrighty,

Shadows And Symbols - Worf's heroic act to bring Jadzia into Stovokor and Kira's showdown with the Rommies-tied together by the Moses Sisko/Benny in the mental ward story- Brilliant

Treachery, Faith... - Another great and also funny episode with two strong stories in one (and superb FX)

Once more unto... - A fitting end for Kor, and though I had gotten a little tired of Klingon antics by that time, it was still a great Kling episode

Covenant - I love that episode

It's only a paper moon - Very good Nog episode dealing with holoaddiction- much better than "Hollow Pursuits" and although I don't care much for Vic, he was awesome in that ep.

Badda Bing, Badda Bang - Great, original Holodeck episode

Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges - What's not to like about this episode? Section 31, Romulus, a tool Bashir and big scheming

The Changing Face of Evil - Awesome Dominion war episode

Tacking into the wind- Another very good war episode, the best of the final arc imho

What you leave behind (Part one) - I don't like part two too much, but part one was a great and stunning finale to the war.

^What he said, although I'd like to add Take Me Out to the Holosuite for being another fun comedic episode.

Despite the absence of Terry Farrell, I voted for season 7 of DS9. Others have already pointed out the number of extremely strong episodes in this season.

Well, that was easy. DS9, then TNG. I have to say, Endgame was pretty dang good. Or should I save it for the unpopular opinion thread? :D

DS9. TNG had some decent episodes in its final season, but as a whole was fairly mediocre. Voyager isn't even in the runnig in its final season.

Not an original vote, but DS9 has what is far and away the best seventh season. The reason it's cliche to vote DS9 in these threads is because it actually is that good.

DS9. Except for the final O'Brien/Bashir + Section 31 episode the final chapter arc was pretty damn good. There's some good TNG episodes in season 7 but the show had clearly run out of steam by season 7. It has too many mediocre episodes. Ditto Voyager.

An easy win for DS9 in my book. This is my personal favorite of all the DS9 seasons (and Trek as a whole). It's not perfect (none of the seasons are) but it's overall quality is remarkable with very few clunkers IMHO. I suppose one of the best things I can say about it is it left me longing for more.

TNG had a great finale but nothing too special otherwise in my view. And VOY...oh dear.

DS9: EEEEVIL Dukat, more "Evasive Pattern Omega" and more 'splosions. Yawn.

TNG: Well, we got to see Picard's son. And Geordi's Mother. And Riker's accountant's brother-in-law. Yawn.

VOY: Actually, I feel that the quality of Voyager's seventh season is most consistent with the rest of the show.

"Parallels", "Pegasus" and "All Good Things" are great episodes but a) I feel they're really the exception in TNG's season seven (the rest is either mediocre or barely watchable IMHO) and b) they're still quite a long shot from DS9's best offerings in my view.

Grade A or A+ material from DS9's season 7 in my book:

- Shadows and Symbols: Even stronger than the season opener. Easily juggles a number of storylines at once, ties up knots and sets up material for the future. And what's very important: It works because of the characters.
- Take Me Out to the Holosuite: One of my favorite comedies. And I think it comes at a good time offering some fun and relief before things develop even more steam.
- The Siege of AR-558: Very grim, honest anti-war episode. Being a Starfleet officer is dangerous, and sometimes people die. They're not just numbers.
- It's only a Paper Moon: I think this is a terrific follow up to AR. I think it's a great character piece between two of the most unlikely characters that works like a charm in that it's fun but it also deals with the problems at hand.
- Chimera: A very, very strong character piece again. Seeing another Changeling like Odo is fascinating especially in light of his very different take on 'solids'.
- Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges: Political intrigue and powerful drama that works so well because of the characters. This could almost count as part of the closing arc.
- Most of the final arc. The only real disappointment in my view is Extreme Measures. Just about everything else is top notch, I think. Trek has never done anything quite like this, and I think DS9 was probably the only show that could pull it off at the end of its run. Everything is there: The setting, the characters, the relationships, events in motion, and - not to forget - it's Trek at the very core. It's about people striving to be as 'good' as they possibly can given the circumstances. It's about people having to make choices the consequences of which can be painful. If I had to single out the most powerful episodes, it'd probably be The Changing Face of Evil, Tacking into the Wind and (despite its flaws) What You Leave Behind. All incredibly engaging, powerful episodes that are based in the Trek universe and make use of it to its fullest. It left me personally longing for more.

If you look at season 7 of DS9, one of the interesting things you'll find is that there are, in fact, relatively few explosions and fights. Yes, they're there. But it's a lot less than people seem to think. DS9 was ALWAYS about the characters and their stories - not about fights, battles or special effects of any kind.

DS9
TNG
VOY

DS9 was excellent throughout Season 7. TNG's was mostly good, but it had some horrible episodes, too. VOY's had my favorite episode of the series ("Endgame"), but it also had its share of disappointments.

DS9. I wont' recap the great episodes that season since so many people have named the ones on my list. TNG's final season ended well, but has too many mediocre episodes in the first half. And I hate "Masks." VOY's final season was just bland.
