Best Season 7 of all the series

DS9 got my vote too. It was close with TNG losing out in the end, but DS9's seventh season really hit the high note for the series and, IMHO, for Star Trek as a whole. TNG probably had the stronger finale show between all three shows listed and some stellar episodes as noted elsewhere in this thread, but DS9 was actually pretty moving, emotional and just downright entertaining as it headed for the finish line.

TNG was obviously ready to wrap at the end of their seventh year, DS9 felt like it still could've run one last season or come back as a miniseries or something. Even with Voyager running concurrently it never felt like DS9 suffered while Paramount tried to launch UPN with VOY as an anchor show.

Unlike a lot of folks here, I stuck with Voyager for her seventh season and I would diplomatically call it uneven at best. Endgame was probably as good a finale as any of the other series in its own way, but I wasn't anywhere nearly as interested in the final fates of Janeway and company as I was in the crews of DS9 or the Enterprise D.

And from the results of the poll a lot of folks here seem to appreciate DS9's final season as much as I did.

Later!

Enterprise! Why when I think of.....huh? Only four? Are you sure? Hmmm......

Well...since we are in the 7th season right now, it is too early to tell how the overall greatness of it will be. However, it is currently fantastic! It's amazing what they've done with the show this year so far! It has everything anyone could want...and no fans have complained AT ALL about this year's episodes.

What?

DS9 by quite a bit. Aside from a few medicore episodes here and there, the conluding 10 episodes were brilliant.

TNG was quite good, but had some of the series worst episodes amongst some of it's best.

VGR was so-so. It was watchable, but not much different from anything in seasons 4-6. The finale was rushed and felt like an after-thought.

DS9. I had some problems with DS9's 7th season, but those problems were no-where near the magnitude of those of TNG's 7th season.

It's great to have a little positive talk on DS9 s7, and all it took was to compare it to the other season sevens... and only one EEEvil Dukat protestation. After a shaky start, almost all of crazy Dukat was really well-done. All I'd complain about is Dukat letting Damar off the hook for killing his daughter, because of his Sisko obsession, for no good reason.

Megalomaniacs with diseased imaginations about their 'destiny' really exist, you know. We'd been given Dukat as a Next Gen-ish antagonist for far too long. We could imagine a good guy underneath, as long as he had to hide his sickness behind diplomacy and bureaucracy. Not everyone has a heart of gold.

I don't think his being crazy got old, because they were dealing with it in a new and different way each time, without that (or him) being the sole focus. I think "sane", semi-reasonable Dukat had gotten very tiresome. I'm not sure we ever really learned anything about him in those days, except that he has a sense of humor about it when someone has to pull a sharp object out of his butt. A bit more than that, but some major change had to happen, so that we could see Dukat react to it, and show his true colors, without his diplomatic face on.

what?! are you serious? you're telling me that the Dukat of the Occupation Arc got tiresome? we must have been watching different shows.

as a recurring character, Dukat had some of THE MOST evolving character arcs on the show. did you WATCH Indiscretion (the sharp object scene was filler at most), Return to Grace, Ties of Blood and Water, to say the least?

his entire character arc was destroyed in one fell swoop by the red-eyed monster he was forced to create.

I read this assessment a lot around here and couldn't disagree more. Dukat was desperate and found an ally in the enemy of his enemy. The glowing, red eyes may have been a little much but as a whole I don't think that the direction his character took was far out at all.

Anyhow... DS9 had the best 7th season. There are so many good episodes in there.

indranee-- Please don't take the word "tiresome" to mean anything extreme. I only meant that over the course of five years or so, it was time to look into him more deeply, by throwing different provocations at him. I've always liked Dukat as a character. If they'd continued as they had been with him, through s7, would have been tiresome to me.

I always hate it when villains in stories that supposedly are SF are given glowing colored eyes. That's magic. but again, Dukat wasn't a cliche villain, and even though Sisko makes a good case for the idea that in some rare cases, maybe the word "evil" applies, Dukat doesn't become "evil" in a melodramatic sense. Not evil, crazy. People like that exist. Most people like that don't have access to real power, however.

Season Seven of Voyager was mostly mediocre because the running of the show was given over to Kenneth Biller, while B&B were focused on developing Enterprise.

That episode featured my favorite line of the entire series, which is only great in context... "Find him and KILL him!"

Another DS9 vote.

Interestingly enough, I read a newspaper article/interview with one of the writers of TNG just last week, who opined that season 7 of TNG was one too many in that they [the writers] were burned out by then. He felt season 6 was the pinacle for TNG.

My favorite line from that episode is the somewhat similar, "Death to the opposition!"
