Would you change "countries"?

While reading through the "What other countries have you been too" thread I wondered:

Do you like living in the country/ staate you live in or is there another place you´d rather live in? Why?

Just thinking about that I really like New Zealand in many ways...the nature of course is great, but I also noticed, that the people seem to be much more relaxed and friendly and open for a talk just so, even you don´t know each other, very polite, children friendly, smiling, a good work- life balance.

One of the few things I do not like is that it is too far away from home and most other countries and that my loved ones are not here. And the rest are just smallish things, like the bread.

In my home country I find things less relaxed and less easy-going, which probably is the reason why "the burn out- syndrom" is, while an english word, german made and not really known somewhere else... at least thats what I heard...but than the burn-out people in other countries may just run under depression or some other term. Because in most countries people actually work more and have less vacation time... hmm, oh my, maybe my people are softies.. or stress themselves with to many smallish things and take things to serious... hmm, well thats another topic. *L*
I like living in my home country mainly because my family is there and I grew up there, so the places just hold memories, and I like the old buildings from the medival ages, but I would love to see a bit more NZ mentality over there.
However because of my loved ones living in Germany, I would not move to NZ... and while I always though I had no problem moving to a country nearer to my home, I think now, I most likely would like to stay somewhere near my loved ones.

What about you?

As I have been to many places I most like the freedoms that I enjoy here, I think I would stay here. I would like to continue to travel the world though.

I love the United States. It has a lot of problems but there are also things about it that you can't find anywhere else in the world, good things. There are other countries I could live in, I'm sure. I think it would be difficult for me to transition to a third world country or somewhere with a really hot climate, but people are incredibly adaptable.

I plan to stay here, with a backup plan to move to Canada.

I've spent the last twenty years living in Asia, at this point the question is rather moot. Vacations to the US have made me feel that the country has changed in ways I don't care for and is almost alien to the one I left, much less the country I grew up in prior to working abroad. That said, I wouldn't mind New England, if I returned, but I have much less patience for the rest of the country.

I lived in Japan for 5 years. Although it was exciting and fascinating I wouldn't live there or any other country again. It's too comfortable for me in Canada.

Perhaps this says something for my character (self-absorbed?) but I never decided to stay or leave Japan due to any sense of guilt about leaving my family/friends behind. They knew I'd return home again someday and I did.

I live in the U.S., but I could easily adapt to living in Britain, or Canada. I'd probably be much happier in one of those countries.

Cool Whip? The Grand Canyon? Please don't say "freedom".

I've already changed countries once in my life. I would do it again if I had reason to. Once you have that ex-pat identity you never lose it. To go back to my original country would leave me just as much an ex-pat as to stay where I am, so going to a third country would be less of an uprooting than the first move.

Yeah, I would consider moving somewhere else, if I weren't so lazy and if I had any useful qualifications.

I wouldn't mind living somewhere else temporarily, just to experience the culture in a more meaningful way than would be possible during a vacation. Moving permanently, however, no.

^perhaps if I won the lotto or married someone from a different country. All countries have their pros and cons. And yes sometimes we look to another shore and think the grass is greener there. But it isn't always.

I'm from Poland. Moved to Hong Kong 4 years ago and never regretted that decision (the move was carefully planned, not something I did in haste). I can't imagine returning to Poland to live there.

There are places in the world I might consider moving to, but I think I'd miss Hong Kong.

I've moved to France for a snowboard season. I want to live here year long and I'm learning the language. It's a nice change and I feel the quality of life is better. Too many people in England live to work. Never enjoying themselves ntill a holiday.

Yes at times in the UK it can feel like a 24/7 nonstop culture.

Yes, most definitely. I actually plan on moving out of the Country in the next six months or so, one way or the other.

Well, if I had the power of my namesake there would be no more countries.

But in the real world, I could certainly see myself finishing up the ride in the UK, Holland, Sweden, Germany or maybe Australia.
