What is your favorite alien culture in Star Trek?

The Krenim are basically Time Lords. If there's an original absolute timeline out there, it's probably been distorted beyond all recognition by these buggers. They hold the key to what life must have been like before all the temporal jiggery-pokery they took great glee in executing. All the discontinuities you see across Trek is probably entirely down to their relentless interference. These tragic, living ghosts are the only ones who can hear the echoes of a past universe long gone...

I'd join their crew for a year, maybe longer, if they serve Kellogg's Product 19 breakfast cereal in the morning.

Probably the Klingons. I like the whole honor thing in characters, alien or no. A good Klingon may do horrible things sometimes, but he has a code and would rather die than be cowardly.

Cardassians, as of DS9 and some of its Trekverse stuff. There's the Hebetian aspect, then material challenges overwhelm it and a people with intellectul and artistic trends find them overwhelmed by survivalism and militarism. Cardassians are more human in.....cynical, pragmatic ways, than other aliens,.

The problem with alien cultures in Star Trek is that most of them aren’t alien — they’re almost all setups you could imagine some imaginary nation of humans doing, because that’s pretty much what they are. The 10-C aliens were a nice exception.

(EDIT: For that matter, despite not really being an alien, so was V’Ger.)
