Game The Most Disliked Episode Written By Ronald D. Moore, 2025 Edition

THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes/movies from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

It's a framework to say positive things about episodes from across the franchise.

THE RULES: Below is a list of episodes from TNG, DS9, and VOY written by Ronald D. Moore.

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best' of what currently remains.
Post something you enjoy about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

As you get down the list, you might have to reach more and more for something to enjoy about an episode, and it's OK to eventually save episodes for being "less bad."

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

You can take multiple turns.

Leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another episode.

New players are always welcome. You do not have to already be a "most disliked game" regular to dive in.

[Farscape One]

Ronald D. Moore was the most consistently good writer in the franchise. I can count on one hand the amount of episodes he penned that were mediocre or bad, and I'd have fingers left over. (Plus, I think he might be the funniest writer, on paper. Just look at the amount of in jokes and stuff with his scripts compared to others.)

I'm starting with "IN THE CARDS".

This was just a perfect episode. A simple premise, great use of a LOT of characters, and just a feel good episode all around. And you feel that hug at the end.

This one is a 10.

My next save is "Defiant". It's really too bad Tom Riker wasn't seen again, having a dark version of Riker pop up from time to time would have been an interesting addition. Plus, I liked the early interplay with Kira and Bashir, then Dax. And she and Tom had sn interesting dynamic.

"Rocks And Shoals" has always been the highlight of the Occupation Arc for me. Both plots are essentially perfect. The Vedek's suicide is so impactful.

And I can't imagine how miserable the location shoot must have been, but does it ever play on screen. To a degree that almost feels disturbing (the bloodshot eyes of the Jem'Hadar! it works so great for the drama, but also was actual human suffering shooting in peak-summer heat in this quarry)
