Game The Most Disliked Episode Directed By Les Landau, 2025 Edition

THE OBJECTIVE: A sudden-death elimination game in which we remove our personal favorite episodes/movies from a themed list, until we arrive at the episode that is, if not the worst, at least the most disliked.

It's a framework to say positive things about episodes from across the franchise.

THE RULES: Below is a list of episodes from TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT directed by Les Landau. Trek's third most prolific director!

Eliminate/save your favorite, or the one you deem the ‘best' of what currently remains.
Post something you enjoy about the episode you are saving, and copy-and-paste the list with your choice removed.

You can use any standard you like to judge which option is "best." You can save episodes for being widely recognized “best Trek” classics, or for idiosyncratic qualities that no one appreciates but you.

As you get down the list, you might have to reach more and more for something to enjoy about an episode, and it's OK to eventually save episodes for being "less bad."

But -- no tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you don’t think anyone else will, or because you feel it would threaten your preferred episode's chance to “win.”

You can take multiple turns.

"Crossfire" is a story about Odo's unrequited love. The scenes where Odo is waiting for Kira to come to their daily briefings, and where he cancels those meetings are terribly poignant. I think this is the only example of Odo losing his temper too.

"Deja Q" was that rarest of birds -- a good TNG comedy. The set-ups, the timing, the line deliveries, were perfect, from naked Q literally dropping onto the bridge to the appearance of the mariachi band. It's my favorite Q episode of the franchise.

Not related to that Doctor Who episode from late-1963,

Is rather an inventive little gem. More akin to "The Twilight Zone" in ways, yet TOS was far more inspired by TTZ than TNG, hence the oddly inventive feel.

The direction, which is fresh and piquant, adds much to the proceedings. Even more than the tea.

Those poor Husnock, though. Kevin can never be accused of crying wolf anymore. Fifty billion, everywhere... That's a lot of Husnock and bean soup!

The b-plot involving Jake and Nog's trading is probably my favourite thing about "Progress" but the a-story, with Kira struggling with the forced relocation of settlers and the different pulls of duty and emotion, is a great development of the character.
