Star trek Legacy

The PC version of the game was such a rushed disaster. It was ported from xbox to pc, with little attention to making it a good PC game or taking advantages of PC options.

I was so pissed off. The Devs never gave a damn about a patch either. The online community for the game was dead in about 5 weeks, with most people unable to connect to a multiplayer game.

I had such high hopes for the game.

By the way, the system specs are extremely deceiving. If you exceed the min. specs by a healthy margain the game will still run like crap. There also features listed on the box that weren't included in the final rushed version of the game (after months of delayed release).

Legacy is the perfect example of why consumers need protection with software. We can do something if we buy a toaster that is missing parts and not finished. We can do nothing if a PC game is.

Glad I got the Xbox 360 version, aside from a few flaws it still is a pretty solid Trek game and people do still play online. Not a huge amount but they are there.

A friend of mine bought it, and he had a fairly decent system at the time (I don't know the specs offhand) and he still had to turn everything down to the lowest options just to get the buggy thing to work. And at the minimum levels, the graphics looked like they came from a PS1 game. It was utterly laughable - it literally looked like a five- or six-year old game.

I bought a new video card that exceeded the min. reqs by a healthy margain, but I had to do the same thing. It looked like crap and it was choppy as hell. I called Bethesda for help, and they told me this:

While your system specs exceed the min. requirements, you need more ram for the video clips to play. (I had 512, which is the min. spec for the game).

So, I spent quite a lot to upgrade my system to 1.5 ghz... it still ran like crap. I called them back to complain, and they told me:

Legacy takes advantage of the latest PC technology. To get the full effect of the game's state of the artness, you should buy a new video card.

So, their version of min. specs = if you can see what the game looks like without actually playing it. If you want to play the game, we recommend that you exceed even our recommended specs.

I have 2GB of memory and a Geforce 7400. the game still could not play at maximium settings, and sometimes was choppy.

A lot of people with 7400s had problems. It's insane because even if you get the game to run smoothly, the graphics still look 5 years old. It's bizarre.

I just started playing the game two days ago, and after the patch and a little bit of a learning curve with the controls, I've been having a lot of fun. I'm stuck at the Archer mission trying to destroy the three Romulan ships with the virus, though.

And McAvoy, are you sure you can't skip through that dialogue? Shouldn't a mouse click, or ESC, or spacebar get through that?

I tried. It's five minutes worth of dialogue and I can't get out of it.

BTW, I have a HP dv9535 laptop and it runs perfectly.

I'll have to see what happens when I get to that mission (I just started the Kirk missions, after bending over and downloading a trainer to beat the final Archer mission--I just couldn't kill all three bioweapon ships for the life of me). Still, I'm almost sure that, at least in the newest patched version, spacebar skips through dialogue (though only one line per keystrock, so you'll have to press it a number of times). Could be wrong about that mission, though. We'll see when (if) I get there.

I set up my X Box LIVE account on Friday and downloaded the LEGACY demo and it was pretty enjoyable so later down the line, think I will pick up a copy though will play it safe and grt a pre-owned version from GAMESTATION.

I got the XBOX version for Christmas and I'm proud to say I beat it in a week without any tutorials. I loved it that much. I think it's about time to re-beat it, actually. I love some of the ships from it, particularly the Yorktown battleship from the Enterprise era though I think it is misplaced, design-lineage wise. I wish I knew where I could find good orthos of it and other ships from the game.

I wonder if Star Trek Legacy II is in the future? This time, they can get the captains, and more members of the crew to voice their parts. I'd like this to become the SW Battlefront for Star Trek games. Release one overy couple of years, making it bigger and better each time.

It all depends on how well the game sold. I have no idea what the sales figures were. Anyone?

My only hope is that Bethesda don't have anything to do with it again.

Whats more annoying is that when we did not have all this technology we had cracking games like The 25th Anny and JR,AFU....but now we have all this technology to produce the Trek universe in detail and all they can release is buggy unfinished games like Legacy.

Its heartbreaking. :(

Bethesda's handling of the PC version was a disgrace. I doubt we'll see a Legacy 2.

Nearly every Trek game since Voyager: Elite Force has been pretty bad. I've grown sick of getting my hopes up for the next trek game by the "next" relatively unknown game maker like perpetual.

Bridge Commander was pretty decent, although it didn't live up to a lot of people's hopes. Many were looking for an open-ended game where you were really "in command" of the starship and could go where you wanted, and instead the game was extremely linear and mission-based.

Also, I always thought that Encounters for the PS2 was a surprisingly good arcade-style game, especially given the budget price (I got it for $9.99 soon after it went on sale).

But the PC version of Legacy was indeed such a disaster that it's hard to imagine that Bethesda can really do the license much justice.
