Short Treks: TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT Editions

I've stated this in a couple of replies, but, might as well make a full thread on it now.

With the Short Treks moving beyond Star Trek: Discovery and the franchise returning to some of its roots with Picard, do you think we could potentially see some Short Treks focused on characters from previous Trek shows? With Picard featuring Seven of Nine -- something I definitely wasn't expecting -- and then some crazy rumor that Robert Picardo was set to appear, it's clear that series has no problem bringing in characters from the other spin-offs, thus opening the door for others to appear.

I have no doubt that Picard will make reference to Deep Space Nine and Voyager in dialogue, but, I see no reason why some Short Treks can't made to be centered on some of the characters from those series. I would never expect a sequel series to DS9 or Voyager to be made, so, Short Treks seem to be the best bet.

And while it's set long before either one, perhaps we could see one featuring the characters from Enterprise in the years after the finale.

Just something to chew on.

Thoughts?

Silly me, I thought your thread topic was actually a factual statement and TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT Short Treks were going to be a thing. What a difference a simple question mark would have made ;)

They'll probably make something DS9-related eventually. Picard seems to be taking care of TNG and VOY at the same time. So Picard Short Treks could basically be TNG or VOY shorts, depending on who's in them.

I’d much rather see the Enterprise idea, but in a two to three year continuation series ala Picard. And do whatvthe novels did and retcon the finale whose title shall not be stated.

I'd love to see any of this. Also not out of the realm of possibility is we start getting tv-movies again, streaming this time, across the timeline. Would be amazing.

The number one wish in terms of a DS9 short for me would be an aging, ailing Garak asks Julian to come visit him, and basically comes out of the closet about his feelings for his "Dear Doctor."

It would mean so much to so many people if they retconned Garak's sexuality to be what it should have been intended to be.

If they've got a good story to tell, it'd be cool to catch up with O'Brien (didn't he leave to work at Starfleet Academy?) or find out how Trip didn't really die or learn what happened to Ensign Ro or meet adult Naomi Wildman.

I really hope that Lower Decks is a continuity-hogging machine, making references to all of the series in multiple ways.

Have the crew get hammered on Deep Space 9. Get a side character in hot water for making an unauthorized hologram of Seven of Nine. Have them dust off an old EMH Mark I and play games with it. Let them discover a derelict sleeper ship crewed by Travis Mayweather, who nobody recognizes, and have them constantly try to stop him from attempting time travel.

The mission of Lower Decks is "second contact" and they're the "Yelp of Starfleet", so I expect a lot of TNG/TOS/etc follow up episodes.

I would love to see them revisit DS9 or Enterprise in Short Treks, but I think they are more or less meant to tie into the current series. So I can't really see it happening unless characters from DS9 or ENT show up on Disco or Picard.

I don’t want Short Treks in those periods. I want a two hour Long Trek web series/tv movie for each of those shows. Never gonna happen, so it doesn’t really matter

I’d love to see them do one for Enterprise, giving it a proper final episode that the series deserves.

I’ve seen Alex Siddig in Spy miniseries. Don’t know if he can pull off the Bashir character anymore.. Presently, he looks like an evil Syrian government official...

If Brent Spiner can still play Data, Alexander Siddig (who's acting skill has vastly increased since the DS9 days) can definitely still play Bashir. He seems to be the only cast member who lets modern photos of himself be used on the covers of Bashir-focussed novels, where he looks badass.
