Cue all those fans who'll be saying Discovery is heading to the far future of the Kelvin timeline.That's... a ST'09-style 2D black hole![]()
It's definitely not the same effect used for prior Red Angel appearances or disappearances. Like the warp effect used in season 2, it's a definite callback to the time-warping black holes in the '09 movie. It's a wormhole.

And apparently according to one tweet, it is going to be over an hour long. It's officially called Such Sweet Sorrow (Part 2), according to Trekcore on Twitter...

It's a little less cloudy around the edges but otherwise they're the same 2D black hole.I'm not seeing the resemblance

They probably have a homing beacon of some kind for the Klingons & Federation to all join in with the battle. Plus L'Rell said they've detected the Red signals all along, in case they wanted to use that as a guide (which Starfleet could also do).My guess is Tyler is going to come swooping in to save the day with Klingon ships from Boreth.

It’ll likely be edited as one long episode in the home video release. Hence the singular title.Disappointed about the episode title. I like it better when the 2nd part has a different title (e.g. the first 2 episodes of Discovery, and many of the DS9 2 parters).
That will make things awkward for L'Rell later on, assuming she survives the upcoming battle. She told the Klingons that she killed him.Tyler got back his torch bearer insignia in an earlier episode, so I think he'll light a beacon and rally the Klingons.

It looks closer to what such an anomaly would really look like, complete with the gravitation lensing effect around the edges. The ST09 version is flashy and more visually interesting.Yeah, I also don't see the resemblance beyond the fact that both are circles. It's an entirely different effect that (to my eye) has far more in common with the warp effect from Star Trek: Beyond than the scene shown above.
