Spoilers Skeleton Crew [Spoiler Discussion]

Was The Mandalorian season 2 the last SW that could be considered a real hit? Seems like it's been awhile. Andor got critical claim but not the ratings.

Following The Acolyte, it’s RIP Star Wars as the entire season of Skeleton Crew on Disney+ has failed to make the Nielsen ratings charts.

Not one episode has made it to the Nielsen charts including the two-episode premiere, and with all eight episodes available, it also means no one jumped on late to binge-watch the series.

That's a shame. I really liked it

If by "nope", you mean "yes" then I agree with you. Skeleton Crew is easily my favorite live action Star Wars project that Disney has produced and The Acolyte is easily my least favorite.
I liked Skeleton Crew, but it only beats out Resistance for me. If I want to watch Goonies I'll watch Goonies. In the end, it added zilch to the universe and is easily skipable on rewatches. Acolyte is way more interesting despite some poor acting here and there.

Like I said in my finale review, I'm very happy with the ending we got and I would be okay if this was the end. Yes, I'm sad we won't get another season, but I'm okay with this being the conclusion. And who knows, maybe the characters will pop up somewhere else in the future?

I've usually try to be optimistic, and ignore all the doom and gloom, but in this case it sounds like those people were right, which is a shame because I really enjoyed this and it deserved a better reception.
I appreciate Lucasfilm for giving different types of shows, but I have to wonder if perhaps this and The Acolyte were just too far removed from the Skywalker or Mandalorian storylines.
I have to admit, I am a little shocked to see Star Wars get this mediocre of numbers, I had thought the franchise was still huge and that pretty much anything with the name Star Wars in it was a guaranteed hit.
To be clear, I'm about to start declaring the franchise dead or anything like, I'm sure overall it's doing fine, I'm just realizing it's not quite what it used to be.

It's old hat to say at this point but they really need to replace Kathryn Kennedy. Fresh Leadership is desperately needed and this time they need to turn to someone with Writing and or DIrecting in their past. Not a bean counter. I don't care how good of a producer she was. They need a artist running things who can find a way to deal with the other bean counters above him or her on the Disney food chain. I will even toss out a name. Derek Kolstad. They guy who created John Wick and also Nobody and has already worked with Disney on Falcon and the Winter Solider. Seems like he would bring in a grounded somewhat but high concept action elements to Star Wars IMO.

Or maybe not fire her but instead bring in someone to handle the creative side of things, kind of like how DC Studios has James Gunn handling the creative side with Peter Safran focusing on the business side. Dave Filoni might be the best options since he's already involved and most his stuff has gotten some of the best responses of any of the series.

Calls to fire Kathleen Kennedy will never cease to be ridiculous.

Not really. I mean she was qualified to get the job. She had the experience and resume and all of that. But that doesn't always translate to good job performance. I am a fan of sports and have seen all sorts of top notch assistant coaches over the decades get jobs they earned but then failed once landing the job. I assume that is the case in all places of business.

She has overseen the complete devaluation of the brand that was seen as unstoppable when she first got the job. She has had some success but we are now at a point when even well made shows like Skeleton Crew and Andor can't bring in audiences. I don't see how, even people who like what she has done can't see that it is time to move on. She shouldn't stay in the job just because people don't want to loose culture war points to the other side or any of that stuff that doesn't matter.

To top it off we are seeing what a good change in leadership can bring in the DCU with James Gunn. I feel the MCU, despite a setback with the new Captain America movie is on the right track, now that Bob Chapek is gone. As long as they hire someone talented then things can get better. SW is a brand that can be resurrected pretty quickly IMO. It isn't something like Terminator and Indiana Jones, were they are all out of gas and it's time to let it go.

I think that would have worked a few years ago. Elevating John Favreau to a higher position in the food chain when The Mandalorian was hot could have I think done wonders. But now I think it's the fact that people just don't have consumer confidence in the product anymore, and part of that reason is just how stubborn it has been at accepting the need for change.

To be fair we've seen all of one thing from that universe.

That's true. But I just get a sense that we are in better hands than we were under Snyder. I mean I do like many Snyder movies but he really did mess up the DC universe. As for Filoni I have been fan but it does feel like he has stumbled lately and he has also been their for sometime. I think a outsider is needed at this point. They almost need to clean house.

Let Andor finish up because that would be a blow to people who are still fans I think to see such a great show not get a proper end but then start over in everything else. Also they need to either say the sequel trilogy isn't canon anymore or just move more into the future so you can ignore them. If they do say it isn't canon though I do think it needs to just be said to happen in other universe. I am not a fan of completely 100% erasing something because it feels disrespectful to the people who did love those movies. People want the shows they like to always exist in some fashion when it comes to these kind of franchises IMO.
