Never seen TOS scenes (revisit)...

This is something I started several years ago (and long before TOS-R was even a rumour or serious discussion). The idea was to create off-screen events or alternate versions of familiar scenes. When depicting new and never seen characters I tried to use performers from the time when TOS was in production to give the images a sense of authenticity. Some of you will be familiar with these and others will be seeing them for the first time.

I drifted away from doing these even though they were a lot of fun and fostered discussion, but once in awhile I do make one or two new scenes or remake a previous effort. There are quite a few of them so I'll post only a few at a time.

I always thought these were well done. :techman:
Thanks.

The basic idea for the pre TOS images was imagining an alternate sequence of events.

- What if NBC had bought Star Trek on the strength of "The Cage" and we'd gotten a Pike era series in 1965, and perhaps in b&w to save costs?
- What if after a decent first season NBC is generally satisfied yet wants changes. This coincides with Jeffrey Hunter wanting to get back to films. Gene Roddenberry and crew change things up and the familiar cast from the actual first season TOS comes aboard. Again to save costs a lot of the sets and costumes remain the same.
- After a more successful second season the new cast is kept yet sets and costumes and props are upgraded to what we actually saw throughout TOS' run.

I'd like to do more Pike era scenes since it's a near blank template. I'm particularly thinking of what things I could mine from the b&w The Outer Limits.

From Season 4 of TOS: Commodore Kirk on the bridge of the Enterprise, with Lt. Commander Sulu and Lt. Chekov.

Lt DePaul, lead helmsman of the Constellation, informing Commodore Decker the ship is about to enter L-370... but something is wrong!

Re: The Outer Limits idea

Along with the angles on Steve Ihnat in "The Inheritors", the Megazoid creature in "The Duplicate Man" later shows up as one of the other captured specimens in "The Cage".

The Enterprise takes an attack run at the planet killer.

Decker makes his suicide run.

Something I started to play with: the shuttlecraft maintenance deck under the familiar flight deck.

Hitting the galactic barrier.

Aerial chase.

Really explains Captain Christopher's WTF expression.

Warp slingshot around the sun.

A full flight deck.

I wish they'd kept Kirk's first season alternate tunic all the way through to the third season.

The series bridge with "The Cage" aesthetic.

We should have gotten to see a female starship Captain.

An alternate starship design.

Just one of the crew.

TAS' Commander Thelin is actually a Commodore in the real timeline.

What if the novel Spock Must Die! had been an episode.

Picard doing historical research on the holodeck (actually a never seen TNG scene).

And they thought there was only one. Scenes from the TNG novel Vendetta.

Oh, you need to put Russell Johnson from Gilligan's Island in there somewhere. He wanted to do a Star Trek and never got a chance.

And my two wish-they-hads are Leslie Nielsen as some crazy Starfleet officer ala Garth or Ron Tracey, and Ed Asner as a Klingon.

I never knew Russell Johnson wanted to do Star Trek. I wish that had happened.

And Warped9, these are great of course. :)

Ed Asner would have been an awesome Klingon! And imagine an exchange between The Professor and Spock..

I consider Forbidden Planet to be the prototype for Trek (whether intentional or not), and JJ Adams is certainly the spiritual ancestor of Captain Kirk, so Leslie Nielsen would have been right at home in a TOS episode.

Johnson had a history with sci-fi, he would have been a natural. An episode of Adventures of Superman, It Came from Outer Space, This Island Earth, Attack of the Crab Monsters, The Space Children, 2 Twilight Zones dealing with time travel, an Outer Limits episode (Specimen: Unknown, with plants similar to those in "This Side of Paradise"), and an episode from The Invaders.

I have the Superman episode. Maybe I should start checking the local used video store to find more of his stuff, he did a lot of westerns too. He was about ready to give up on acting with he got Gilligan, he was nearing 40.
