Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel - First Time Viewer

Sabrina? You mean that show currently airing in 2019 on streaming media?;)

The More Things Change, The More they Stay the Same. ;)

Can I ask a favor? Can we observe the spoiler rules in this thread. I'm only 3 episodes in so it will be a while before I get to like season 6.

The series follows on Wheadon's original intent for the movie, not the movie itself.

Buffy is the kind of show that can be corny in one scene then seriously dramatic in the next without the two stepping on each other. I'm not a huge fan of the first season, but it finds its feet quickly in the second.

I'm watching the third episode, and we've had a Sabrina the Teenage Witch reference and a Family Matters reference. Yep, this show is definitely 90s.
Soooo '90s. See also: Xander's unbuttoned button-down shirts and parted-down-the-middle hair, and Buffy's poofy bangs and pushup bra.

I find it hilarious that they did a gritty remake of Sabrina. Might as well have made Fuller House be about the deep emotional problems of three girls dealing with a dead mother and distant alcoholic father who screams at them when the house isn't perfectly neat.

It's actually a pretty great show, though. I'd call it a worthy successor to Buffy. (iZombie hits that mark for me as well.)

Here's hoping the new Buffy show will be just as good or better.

I'm a huge Buffy fan, it and Harry Potter where the two things that really got me into Modern Fantasy, which has now become one of my favorite genres.
I will admit that the first season, especially the pilot and first couple episodes, are very rough. The show does take a little while to really get going, but once it does it is great.
I don't know if it's been mention on here anywhere, but Boom! Studios just started their own reboot comic that starts everything over in the modern day. I've look through some previews online, and it's kind of weird to see it, because it uses all of the original actor's likeness, but with modern fashions, tech, and things like that. I haven't checked it out yet, but at this point I'm probably going to just wait for the first collection to come out.

I hope it's a sequel, personally. Buffy's arc has already been told, and told well ... and there are so many rich possibilities that could follow in the same universe.

Oh. I should add that Buffy isn't like the other shows in school. If you want a good rundown on why it's different, I highly recommend watching TPN's episode guides. They're meant to be episode accompaniment. So he goes out of his way to avoid spoilers, and if he does spoil something he does make note of it. A couple of times he's actually made separate spoiler/non-spoiler cuts of videos. And if he does spoil something, he tries to be as vague as possible and only does so to emphasize the theme.

He's been doing it for almost five years and only just finished season four. And probably won't be finished anytime soon, but there's still more than enough here to marinade in your brain for a while.

(And there are playlists on his channel for each of the first four seasons.)

The information available is kind of circumspect in that they haven't just come out and said what it is, but the showrunner pretty strongly implied it'll be a sequel 20 years later starring a new slayer who I guess is also named Buffy.

Watched Teachers Pet and Never Kill a Boy on the First Date tonight.

Teacher's Pet was kinda lame, and I think I already hate Xander. He was saying stuff that is kind of stereotypical of Teenage boys and it was kind of annoying. Also, the main story about the Mantis was a little dull.

The second episode was probably my favorite episode so far. I get this is a teenage show, but while Teacher's pet kinda showed the negative teenage stuff, this episode showed a more realistic approach, especially with Buffy wanting a social life/boyfriend mixed with her role as Slayer. I love the chemistry between Giles and Buffy so far, and I really hope to see Owen again down the line. It's interesting the difference between the last two episodes. In the last episode I was also distracted by the effects. In this episode it's all character/story and it's much more gripping.

At the end of Never Kill A Boy On The First Date, Owen only wants to hang out with Buffy because she has amazing strength, and he wants to see her take on more bad guys because he thinks it’s cool. Sorry but Owen is a one-off character.

It's true Owen is gone, but that kind of story - about the balance of slayer life and social life - you'll be seeing a lot more of in the future. It's one of Buffy's main themes as a character.

I have watch Buffy and Angel two years ago, we really enjoyed it.
I hope they continue Buffy of Angel, even with a new cast I would probably watch it. but please no reboot.

That's unfortunate. Other than that ending scene, it seemed like Owen was a cool guy. Oh well. It was more about Buffy juggling her two lives together that I really liked in that episode.
