Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel - First Time Viewer

I’m done with Dollhouse and it’s time I let this thread die. It was a pretty good series but the weakest of the three Whedon shows I saw. You guys were right, once we got to Epitaph the series improved for the better and Echo’s arc was nice. Also RIP Topher at the end. He was somewhat of a hero too. It’s amazing how the villains ended up good people and the good people (Boyd and Claire) ended up the villains.

I knew there wouldn’t be much talk about this series which is why i didn’t post much about it. Heck on this comic con weekend where we saw Seven of Nine coming back to Star Trek, who cares about a 2 year canceled series about identity and how the way we live forms our own identity. How Echo came to be Echo and not just a doll was probably my favorite progression of this story. I just wish it happened sooner.

What about Firefly?

I love Season 2 of Dollhouse pretty hard. I think it could have been a BRILLIANT series under streaming. The problem was they had to establish what the Dollhouse was by doing episodic, and by the time they got to the meatier stuff people tuned out. I myself came to it a few years after it was cancelled. But taken as a self-contained novel for television, it's brilliant.

It seemed like a season that was out-twisting itself. That's not a bad thing, but the stuff with the Senator being a Doll and then Boyd's revelation at the end I couldn't help but think about Discovery Season 1 and how they tried to have a twist at the end of each episode. Still an overall enjoyable season though.

I think I remember recalling they knew the writing was on the wall and some of the twists and ideas planned for the future were added to make the whirlwind end. Just like the end of this thread, it's been a blast everyone!

I've been reading that too. They really pushed a lot of things in the second half of the season, and Epitaph could have been it's own season.

Also, as a way to close out this thread, on a whim last night I decided to see Once More With Feeling again. Man that Musical episode has a lot more resonance when you know how the season turns out, especially the Buffy/Spike angle and "Rest in Piece". Also, I didn't say this at the time, but after listening to the soundtrack a lot and rewatching the episode, Anthony Stewart Head and Amber Benson were awesome in this episode. I really wish we had more Giles/Tara moments. They could have had good chemistry.

I'm assuming since you weren't interested in the Buffy and Angel comics that you aren't interested in the Dollhouse one either.

Seems like there are comics for everything these days. Do these fill in the 10 year gap and explain even though they took down Rossum why everything still went so bad? I was a little confused there. Maybe they hit the wrong building?

I know I said I would let this thread die, but I've still been watching various things about Buffy on Youtube and the guy who does the viewing guide to the Buffy verse had two Youtube videos that I absolutely enjoyed. They were top ten lists, but these were some of the best analysis videos I've seen regarding this whole thing and I thought I would share them here if anyone was interested.

OMFG that’s incredible. More details!

not much to tell. If anyone wants to see it PM me as I don’t want to post an image of myself on this forum. I originally wanted to ask him a question regarding his role as The Gentleman and if that influenced Suru and I saw that the selfie was only 20 bucks. Considering how much I gushed about him before and after watching Hush, I couldn’t not do that.

He’s very touchy feely but it didn’t bother me because he basically treats everyone that same way. He really is the epitome of what Star Trek represents and I’m so glad this actor who is being compared to Andy Sirkis for the work he does is part of the Trek family.
