Big Bang Theory

I love this show, the first funny sitcom I've seen in a long time. I didn't find a thread about this here, is noone else watching?

I love it too, though this last ep was a weak one, IMHO. I like them when they're quirky, not flat-out cartoonish.

As in an hour ago, or 168 hours ago?

That bit about the Terminators and selfgrowth were fraking amazing.

Hopefully that's a prelude to a reduced licensing cross over like with Drew Carey and Babylon 5 or Spaced and Star Wars.

I plan to watch it this summer as my replacement for the ending Scrubs. CBS has given it a 2nd season, which is good news.

I really like this show and am glad it got picked up.
I did forget to watch/record it last night.
I'm going to catch up on DVD when its S1 set comes out.

Only a show written by nerds would include a scene with Star Trek 3D Chess. Such a great show and I'm surprised people here aren't watching it.

Last week they debated the "why would SkyNet make a teenaged sexbot Terminator" question.

^ That was hilarious. And it was even funnier for me because earlier that day I had been reading a thread here about almost the same thing. :rommie:

And I am one of the ones that really enjoy this show. I wasn't so sure in the beginning since it seemed like another way of perpetuating the "nerd" stereotype. But so far the characters are quiet well rounded and multi-dimensional... or as much as characters can be on a situation comedy. I am also completely surprised that Sheldon has become the breakout character. I would have sworn it would be creepy sex-starved Howard.

I didn't know that, i enjoy the show very much, my wife and i where laughing a lot yesterday when the gril (i dont remember her name) was scrubing vicks on the sick nerd.

I'm not, from day one for me, Sheldon has been the funniest thing about this show. Don't know where they found this guy, but he's hilarious and I think will have a long career ahead of him.

The characters are as broadly and affectionately drawn as those in Dharma and Greg or Two and a Half Men, also done by Chuck Lorre.

Sheldon is played by Jim Parsons. Glancing at the imdb data suggests his only widely seen role was a seven episode stint on Judging Amy. (I remembered him from Heights but not Garden State.) He's great. I still like to point out that the great comics still need a straight man. at least by comparison. Sheldon by himself is too much but with Johnny Galecki's Leonard it's gold.

The episode titles listed on imdb are glorious.

Love the show, however, the five Planet of the Apes movies do NOT total 10 1/2 hours.

How could they make such an obvious mistake? ;)

Well, they were taking into account the time between the films to allow people to unload the OLD popcorn and Cokes and acquire NEW popcorn and Cokes. ;)

How sad is it that, that was my first thought as well.

I truly enjoy this show.

I dunno...special extended edition cuts?

Hell, I'd love to find a theatre near me that would show all five POTA movies. "Oh, man...everybody went Chimp.":rommie: And the radiation alarm gag. Howard imitating his mother on the phone. "Oh...I guess you didn't need to crawl." (OK, that you had to be there for...)

This is my new favorite show. I nearly screamed for joy when I found out it got renewed for a second season.

I love the fact that Penny seems a little more well-rounded, i.e. not just the Vapid Ho. She's a much better foil for Sheldon, who I agree is the breakout character.

Add to that that they play Klingon Boggle which I was wondering might make a great game as all you'd have to do is take the original Boggle (or whatever it's called) and stick the Star Trek name on it and Klingon lettering and there you go, could sell quite well amongst the geekiest of Trek fans.

I weep for us both. :guffaw:

They did that back in the late 1970's. It was a collectable poster that read "GO APE".

I went. Twice. Couldn't eat popcorn again for a few months.
