Worf as Captain of the Enterprise?

Jayson1

At some point I think we will see both Worf and the current Enterprise and it made me think. Why not add them together? It even makes sense. Worf switched to command and wanted to someday become a Captain on DS9. Also with the Federation being the way it is it makes sense they would want to go more solider than diplomat for the job. Of course you maybe even sneak in a cameo of O'Brien as first officer or something.

Also it wouldn't be far fetched either for this to be where Guinan is at. She and Worf were close and I could see her maybe going to help out her friend. I even kind of like the idea that Guinan and Worf got married? I mean why not? Picard needs her help for some reason or they are tracking him down for plot reasons. Also I feel like Picard should board the current Enterprise at least once on the show. Maybe you make it bittersweet in that, You can never go home feeling when visiting your past but I think it could all be made to work.

"Picard" needs to ignore the dumb retconning of Worf from "Nemesis" and put him back in the Klingon Empire, where he belongs. The conclusion of his arc in DS9 was extremely meaningful in that, after years of living a divided life, he was finally going home.

Make him the ambassador again or on the High Council or a governnor or something....

Absolutely not. He should be some kind of Ambassador to the Klingon's again.

DS9 put him there and TNG implied he would end up there, just write up his decision to go press buttons on the Enterprise as a Lt.Cmdr again as a mid-life crisis. Wasn't he told he would be unlikely to ever get a command because of his decision to save Dax too? Especially not of the Enterprise.

The Enterprise will eventually turn up and I hope it's the Ent-E, but I think it'd be cool if Picard was treated a bit like Scotty was and that none of the original crew was serving. It'd work well with the whole theme so far, you'd see the Ent-E, like Picard you would probably have that initial happiness but on board the ship it is unfamiliar and not the home it was. I just couldn't see any one from the original cast in charge of the Enterprise, or even working there.

Beverly would explain why Geordi and Picard talked awkwardly about its current captain in Countdown. Perhaps they were married and then divorced like in AGT, so it's uncomfortable for him to talk about her...? Then Alyssa should get the Pasteur ;)

Wrong Crusher perhaps.

I’d have suggested Nog, alas that wouldn’t be possible now.

Too many compromises in politics for worf to be ambassador, I can see him returning to starfleet, although that’s probably influenced by the novelverse. That said, I believe retired starfleet staff can still wear uniforms - maybe that was behind worfs decision when he rejoined his old crew for the weddings.

Although Picard spent more time on the E than the D, the D is what we know and where we feel more at home, not sure how much a “never go home” thing would work.

To me Worf could have spent years as Ambassador and then return to Starfleet. My idea is Worf would be less stuffy because he has become a changed man being able to spend many years living with his people. One of the reason I also had the idea of him being married to Guinan. Worf is like a cross between Kirk and DS9 Kor in terms of personality now.

I think they talk awkwardly about it because the writers of the comic were not told about which Enterprise is currently in service or who its captain is.

Not really, Worf was was always kind of an aggressive doofus and what happened with Jadzia showed he's not qualified to be in command of anything. DS9 rarely showed him in command of the Defiant although he technically should have been every time Sisko wasn't on board, they even shoved him onto Martok's ship so that Jadzia could be the Defiant's captain at the start of season 6. Worf as a character simply doesn't work as a CO.
Even if the federation wanted a "more soldier, less diplomat" kind of captain I doubt they'd pick a trigger happy guy like Worf.

O'Brien is a non commissioned officer.

Because it makes zero sense and is a stupid idea.

If Worf appears, hopefully he's back to being an Ambasssdor. A couple of tweaks of dialogue in Nemesis codd easily have solved this, having him hang around after the wedding shouldn't have been that much of a stretch.

They're making so much new Star Trek, and since everyone's crazy about Picard, might as well just make that Captain Worf show he keeps pitching, where he hunts down space terrorists on a Defiant-class ship.

The reason I don't like the idea of him still being a ambassador is we have had the passage of time. Not sure why he would still be doing the same job we saw him heading out to do at the end of DS9. It makes sense to me he would have spent many years in that job and then move onto the next phase of his life. To me going back to Starfleet kind of makes sense. In fact the synch attack might have been the thing that triggered his patriotism and feeling the need to get back.

As for the marriage to Guinan, why not? She mentioned being married several times and Worf at this point is no longer the sort of insecure guy when dealing with the fact he has never really gotten to experience living a ideal Klingon lifestyle. I see his time as Ambasador as something that sort of makes him feel more secure in himself. It merges the man we saw on TNG and DS9 with another aspect of his personality he never really got to access to a point where he is now a different person. I mean Picard is now a different man so you would think all the TNG people, being in different stages of their life would be somewhat different from who they use to be as well.

If Worf has moved on from being an ambassador, then have him literally moving on and up, he enters politics, is now on the High Council or a governor. Sending him back to Starfleet, even as a Captain is having him take a step backwards.

To quote Yesterday's Enterprise "AHHAHAHA! Impossible!"

I keep thinking the same thing as Phily B about Worf and command. Unlikely in starfleet due to the events with Dax.

I think we're missing the obvious choices though. It should be Captain Harry Kim, or even Naomi Wildman. Paris and B'Ellana's daughter is probably still a little young for command. Wesley, on the other hand...

I like the idea of Worf as captain of the Enterprise. Michael Dorn has advocated for a Captain Worf show, and if we don't get that, I think it would be a neat consolation prize. I do like the idea of Worf also returning to the Klingon Empire (like the future we got in "All Good Things"), but I wasn't cool with him being like a general in the first "Countdown" comic. I couldn't see him going against the Enterprise and Data.

Nemesis screwed things up. They could've easily just kept Worf as Klingon ambassador for the film and it would've changed nothing. But they did change things and Worf was back on the Enterprise, so if Picard or Riker are no longer captain I would like to see Worf in the captain's chair. I also would like to see Geordi as Captain of the Challenger, though I have higher hopes for Worf as Enterprise captain than Geordi.

Worf throws a wrench into this Picard show that hasn't been explored yet. Worf HATES Romulans. As in a very racist/speciest way where he hates all Romulans even those not remotely associated with the Khitomer massacre. There was that one episode where he wouldn't even give a Romulan a blood transfusion and let him die.

I can totally see Worf opposing Picard's efforts at Romulan evacuation and siding with the Federation to abandon the Romulans to their fate. I can't even see Worf being pleasant to Picard's Romulan friends if he ever visits Picard's vineyard.

Worf was still a Starfleet officer I believe when he decided to become ambassador though I am not sure how that works. It's easy to look at him in Nemesis being around just for the wedding and he planned to go back once the wedding was over. They didn't even bother to make a excuse for him being the movie so almost any fate can be given to him. I think most people like the idea of him being able to be with his people though and hanging out with Martock but I am not sure why people think that would be a lifetime type of situation.

I hadn't considered that Worf would be opposed to Picard's efforts to save the Romulans, but that's a good point and interesting to ponder. I will say however that in Nemesis, Worf saying that the Romulans fought with honor against Shinzon was perhaps a shifting in his opinion regarding them. We also never saw Worf voicing any opposition to the Romulans fighting alongside the Klingons and Federation against the Dominion.

Didn't Worf also come around on Ba'el after learning she was half-Romulan?

Because we don't want Guinan to die.

Everyone who dates Worf dies (Imzadi timeline prevented Troi from death) but otherwise it's just too dangerous to date Worf
