Where's Sisko's statue?

Watch the TNG episode where Scotty is retrieved from a transporter buffer after 75 years, and you'll soon see why Sisko isn't getting his due either. Apparently people in Starfleet love to praise Captain Kirk and Ambassador Spock, but none of the other heroes of Starfleet. (Suddenly, it's believable that Spock had an adopted sister who saved the universe that we never heard of...)

I signed the petition.

Captain Benjamin Sisko is my favorite captain for a multitude of reasons, but one outshines them all.

He is an excellent example of a good father. White, black, Asian, latin, Indian, orange, non-humanoid... doesn't matter. Every man can learn from him.

a golden statue for a being who only wanted to live

One of the reasons the Kirk and Janeway statues made sense is that they are in small towns desperate for tourist attention.

New Orleans gets a lot of tourists, but there's not much for the non-geek portion to do.

Even so, Sisko was one of Trek's best heroes, certainly its most well-rounded. Father and son, hero and antihero, skeptic and believer, widower and lover and husband. He was fiercely proud of his race and heritage, but he was a hero all humanity can admire. So yes, I'd say he rates a statue.
