What was the first STAR TREK episode you ever saw?

TOS ran in syndication on Sunday mornings on my local CTV affiliate back when I was 4 or 5. I don't recall the exact episode but I must have watched the same 20 episodes of Trek dozens of times over those few years it was on. For some reason the station didn't run the whole series, or if it did it was on a different day and time.

Of course, I was there in 1987 when TNG premiered. I remember being quite adamant that you couldn't have Star Trek without Spock. :D I continued watching anyhow, mostly because my parents did. Six-year olds don't get to choose their TV programs in the evening in a household with one television.

I was born in the 70s and honestly, Star Trek, Space: 1999, Battlestar Galactica, Battle of the Planets, Speed Racer, Jonny Quest, The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman, The Incredible Hulk.... all a blur and I'm sure I directed all their toys in numerous crossover adventures. I didn't start picking apart individual episodes of TOS until my teens.

"The Cage", in it's premiere in 1966. I was just a kid, but I guess that still makes me an O.G.

I was totally into sci-fi books back then but had become resigned to the fact that T.V. sci-fi would never measure up to the novels I read.

I was floored by The Cage. The way they demonstrated the aliens' power of illusion, a character called simply, "No. 1", an alien who not only was NOT an enemy, but was a member of the human crew.

It was better than anything I'd seen at the movies, and completely blew away anything I'd seen on T.V. Finally, this was like the sci-fi I had been reading. I was hooked from that point forth.

One Sunday in the late 70's I was looking for something on T.V. and ran across Star Trek in syndication. I nearly had an orgasm. My girlfriend, who had pretty sophisticated taste in so many things, thought I was crazy.

I stood in line at a theater in Westwood, Ca. practically trembling when TMP opened. I had no idea the critics savaged that movie because ever bit of it was like mana for me.

Can't remember exactly.
I am pretty sure the first trek I ever saw was a bit of Star Trek II: TWOK on cable at my grandpa's house when I was, like three or four years old, back in the early 80's. It was the part where Khan put the worm thingies in Chekov nad Terrell's ears. It was scary as hell! And I remember thinking, "Why did the guy from 'Fantasy Island' grow his hair long and turn evil?".

Then I'm not sure if the first tv trek I ever saw was TOS or TAS. Either way I DO remember that, for the longest time, I kept seeing "Arena" over and over again! They used to play the hell out of that episode!

TOS back in... must have been mid-seventies.

I can't remember if it was "Where No Man Has Gone Before" or "Charlie X" that was first - but it certainly had a 'psychic powers' theme to it...

I seem to think it was "Miri" in early syndication ('72 or '73).

BTW, My "triviameter" reminds me that "The Man Trap" premiered 9/8/66 and not 9/11. :)

You may be thinking of "The Menagerie", as "The Cage" never aired with the original series, but as part of a special hosted by Patrick Stewart on 10/4/88.

"The Man Trap" on it's first showing in '66..I was 5 and remember it well..it scared the crap outta me!!

"Catspaw". I saw it at a friend's house when I was around six. I hated it so much it would be another five years before I was willing to give the series another try. I didn't get hooked until after I saw "Balance of Terror."

it was too damned long ago.

'twas probably the NYC channel that showed TOS at midnight. my brother and I used to share a room then. we stuffed a towel under the door (so the TV's flickering light wouldn't wake our parents), turned the volume waaaay down low, and sneaked TOS and the Honeymooners (and some others, I forget the line-up) before dozing off.

I think the first ep I remember was Day of the Dove.

The first season, first run. I was seven so I dont recall the exact episode

I was six - The Man Trap! Salt Vampire made me run for cover - but I loved it!

I remember watching TOS on saturday mornings when i was about 5 don't remember the first episode i saw but the earliest image that really stuck in my mind at that age was of the crew of a starship reduced to powder, and the bridge filled with empty uniforms, (I know now the episode was "The Omega Glory") it wasn't until a few years later that I really got into star trek when it was shown 5 days a week in the afternoon and by the time TNG came out when i was 10 i was really excited, and have loved every star trek incarnation since.

I think it was All of Our Yesterdays, mid 70's at my friend Jimmy's house. He was the first person I knew that had cable.
