What was the BEST Starship Battle??

I have been watching many of just battles of all the STAR TREK series including the movie, and I was thinking I have always enjoyed the battle with Enterprise-E

such as: Star Trek: Nemesis (4/8) Movie CLIP - Teaming Up With the Romulans :)and of course Star Trek - Federation/DS9 VS Dominion Full Battle :)

Which battle is better or do have others that you enjoy more? Please advise?

Those are the best battles, but in two different categories. One being a large scale engagement with hostile forces, the other being a small scale engagement between two Federation ships. The latter category has small pickings but does include Voyager vs. Equinox.

In terms of single ship vs single ship, the battle in the Mutara Nebula TWOK is hard to beat. In terms of Fleet Actions when we have muliple ships invovled I'll have to get back to you.

Depends on whether you mean visually or not.
Visually, the Mutara Nebula battle.
Otherwise, the mock sneak attack against the E-nil in TOS:"The Ultimate Computer" because it demonstrates a Starship using maneuvering and variable speed tactis to win the battle.

The fleet battle in DS9's Sacrifice Of Angels is my favorite. The future of the Alpha Quadrant was on the line. The Miranda class is my favorite ship and though they were taken out, it was nice seeing a couple keep up with the Defiant for as long as they did.

The battle from Nemesis, hands down. It's too bad that the CGI made the ships so "shiny". Would be amazing to see that battle if the movie got a bigger budget. Still looks and feels amazing though.

DS9's fleet battles looked very cool at first glance, but I couldn't help but notice on rewatches how only the foreground ships were ever actually firing, and often in a very restrained manner. Compare to Babylon 5 where space is lit up by constant laser fire and all barrels are blazing.

I think my favourite is the opening of Star Trek, even though it was more of a delaying action than a true battle and the zappy beams and awesome FX were second fiddle to the drama going on during the evacuation. I loved the similar battle/evacuation at the start of "Emissary" too for the same reasons.

I'd have 4 categories, model and CG for both of those.

Mutara Nebula battle in The Wrath of Khan. Runner-up, the Vengeance running down the Enterprise in Into Darkness.

Here's my list, movies only...

1: Enterprise E vs Scimitar. Hands down the best for me, I know it has it's detractors but it's everything a Star Trek space battle should be - the sight of the E unloading everything it had at the Scimitar was awesome, the movement of the ships, new type of Romulan Warbird (would have still preferred a D'eridex mind), topped off with the ramming sequence was the highlight of an otherwise derided movie.

2: 1st Reliant attack in TWOK. This one just shades number 3, I just love the build up, the tension, the music, the noise the phasers make - one of TWOK's many brilliant scenes.

3: Mutara Nebula battle in TWOK. As near as makes no difference as good as number 2 for similar reasons...

4: Fleet Battle in FC. Great for the sheer scale of it and amount of ships involved. Dating fast though.

5: Opener from ST09. Just an all round great sequence, brilliant FX, camera tipping all over and proper phasers!

6: Khitomer battle TUC. Entertaining battle, I like the FX when the cloaked BoP fires, and some great camera angles as it attacks from all over the place. Great seeing the Excelsior in action. Not as visceral as I wanted it to be though.

7: Vengeance warp attack. Strange one, this as it's not technically a battle as the Enterprise didn't fight back. Top notch FX as you'd expect from a year old film, the noise the Vengeance makes as it bears down on the Enterprise is absolutely incredible and makes the scene as good as it is. It's waaaay too short though, and would have made it into the top 3 if the Enterprise had got the chance to fire back a few times - a missed opportunity to make a classic Trek scene for me.

My first "battle" in Star Trek was BoT. Simply amazing to an 11 year old...

But as trek progressed, so have the battles.

The battles in TWoK has the theme of the story intertwined, so I think it would have to be at the top.

Most DS9 battles were just number games with the Defiant always getting done what needed to be done.

A Voyager battle I thoroughly enjoyed was Equinox... great cat & mouse game...

Visually, the best battle was by far in Nemesis. Even the new movies don't touch that one.

There are probably more.

Break...

The BAB5 battles are so different. It was always so funny to me that with all that technology, ships were just buzzing around waving a beam around hoping to cut something in half. It was also funny that when the script called for a precision strike, all of a sudden they could do it.

How about the attack on the Changeling homeworld in The Die Is Cast--both when it looked like the Alpha Quadrant forces were going to win, and then when the Jem'hadar show up and kicked their asses. The shots of Jem'hadar attacking a Romulan Warbird are particularly cool.

The fleet battle in DS9's Sacrifice Of Angels is my favorite. The future of the Alpha Quadrant was on the line. The Miranda class is my favorite ship and though they were taken out, it was nice seeing a couple keep up with the Defiant for as long as they did.

Funny thing is, the Miranda has this reputation of being paperthin lightweights by the 2370s in Trekdom, but the episode strongly implies that by the time the two Mirandas flying with the Defiant had blown up, the battle was already raging for a few hours of intense fire. Seeing as how they started the battle with the Defiant, that's really impressive regardless of ship class.

Anyway, one of my favorites is Die is Cast, especially the fact that our heroes were actually barely involved in it -- swoop in, swoop out, get the heck out of there while everyone else fights between themselves.

Another one is Enterprise towards the end of S3. Seeing the lone human ship in the fleet of other assorted ships of various shapes and sizes made her feel quite unique and thus important.

Obviously special effects have improved over the decades, but the Battle in the Mutara Nebula is a personal favorite of mine for emotional reasons. It really captured the intensity of the battle and the tension of the situation at the time. It was the first time I was really excited about Star Trek and cemented my existence as a Trekkie. (the whole movie, not just the battle.)

Yeah, that is a great one, but not so much for the visuals (for me) but the whole Obsidian Order/Founders thing.

Then of course the whole Garak/Odo interegation.

Fantastic episode!!

Ent-D vs Borg in BOBW

the whole concept of this smaller plucky ship against this nearly unstoppable gigantic adversary is awesome, and this battle hasn't been topped.(they didn't even try to in FC)

Sacrifice of Angels, duh :)

esp when the Klingons arrive from "above" at a different angle to the other ships, in the glare of that star (nice to see a use of different planes in 3D space) and totally smash right through that Cardassian Galor class ship after blowing it to pieces.

Followed by the lines
"Dax, can you make it through?"
"I'd love to try."

... yeah, the word "awesome" really doesn't do that moment justice.

You know what's weird to think of too... that episode was nearly 17 years ago
