What games are you playing currently?

How?
Did you get pre release copy?

Oops, sorry. I'm not used to discussing games in this forum and kind of forgot to mention something important, haha.

Yeah, I'm a professional reviewer/guides-writer. I wrote RPG Site's review, which is up on Metacritic. Gave it an 8. There are qualms, but it's a lovely experience overall. All IMO, obvs!

Well can you answer one question?

Is the first hour of gameplay fun?

Hmm. Yes-ish. Tutorials are seldom a blast. There are plenty of little teaching moments designed to bring fans up to speed with the earliest of the new game's core features, and some effort is made to consider completely new players as well. So, you know, it's a bit slow in parts.

They handle it rather cleverly, with Aloy serving as the teaching character and someone else as the disciple.

I was immediately enchanted by the visual splendor and would have happily endured another tutorial gauntlet, but yeah, the game picks up not too terribly long thereafter.

Not a game I've played yet, but I've just seen the trailer for Ixion...

It looks like a cross between Homeworld and Cities: Skylines, if you can imagine such a thing. As those are two of my favourite games of all time I am very interested to find out more.

Retro Bowl (American football) on the Nintendo Switch. Not a bad little game for $2.99.

I hope they fixed the challenges. The way they were designed was a peeve of mine. They seemed more like filler in a world where everything else was so good.

I just thought I'd let everyone know that CD Projekt Red have finally released a proper PS5 / Xbox Series X/S version of Cyberpunk 2077. The upgrade from last gen versions is free.

Since the movie is coming out Friday, I decided to replay the first 4 Uncharted games. I haven't played The Lost Legacy yet, but I'm thinking I might buy it and play it once I'm done with 4.

Lost Legacy's fantastic. My favorite after 2. I hope you enjoy it!

I’m currently downloading the Series X version.

Held off playing Cyberpunk till the PS5 upgrade was released. I'm impressed - went with ray tracing / 30FPS mode. Looks incredible (after tinkering with the HDR for half an hour!).

Gonna have to put it on the backburner when Forbidden West arrives Friday, though. I'll be in no rush to finish it.

Yeah I bought the PS4 version for like $20 a while back. My plan was always to wait for the PS5 update. However I won't be playing it until I'm done with Horizon 2. I'll definitely be playing it in Performance mode though. I'll always take 60fps over RT and/or higher resolution.

It's ironic that it's taken this long to get it to a playable state on consoles. They really should have waited longer to release it in the first place.

Funny, I thought I would said the same thing, but this time round I don't mind the 30fps. There's a nice motion blur effect which helps. First time I've played a game with ray tracing; the difference in how the shadows are rendered is quite striking in certain scenes. Maybe the novelty will wear off.

Hopefully if and when PS5 pro rolls around we can have the best of both worlds!

Oh man, I absolutely love the RT reflections in Ratchet & Clank and both Spider-Man games. However both of those games have a Performance RT mode which runs at 60fps with ray tracing. It's like the best of both worlds. Sure, the resolution may be lower, but due to Insomniac's awesome temporal injection both games look amazing.
