Spoilers Variety about the future of Star Trek

In fairness, that would be more of a fix. To have reasonable deck heights, an Excelsior needs to be around 700 meters.

Just sayin:shrug:
Oh, I agree. All they would have to do is say it's bigger. They wouldn't have to change a thing about the exterior. As it stands, it's scaled way too small.

I'm hoping we see the Enterprise-C, and it'll be Probert's concept

Can't say I'm a fan of that one. To be honest, I find it hideous. Maybe it's just cuz I've spent months working on a model of it, but I've grown to really like the Enterprise-C. It really does feel like the perfect bridge between the Excelsior and Galaxy classes. But that's me.

Design necessities aside, Sternbach’s version was clearly the better choice. It was different enough from the Enterprise-D that the viewer could tell which ship was which at a distance, which I don’t believe Probert’s version would have succeeded in doing. It looked too similar to the Galaxy class.

very cool to get something from the Lost Era. I really wish we’d get a full series from this time period.

as far as the look, I would expect we’ll get the overdesigned versions of the Monster Maroons from SNW (assuming they don’t create something all new) and probably slightly re-designed or “modernized” versions of the Excelsior, Ambassador, Miranda, etc… think of the Discoprise. It’s still recognizable as a Connie…but different. And I’m not saying that’s bad or anything. Just that, it’s the way things will likely go.

you just aren’t gonna get the “classic” designs unless Matalas or one of the showrunners of animated shows are running things.

I had nothing against the film. I think Yeoh is an amazing actress, and while I'm not the biggest fan of her character, I was intrigued with what they were going to do with her. That said, it's amazing how the simple mention of Rachel Garrett has bumped up my anticipation.

My vote would have been Bill Krause, but it’ll probably be Eaves. I wish they would stop using him.
Well Eaves hasn't worked on Discovery since Season 1, and hasn't worked on SNW at all. He did the first pass at the Protostar, but someone else finished it, and AFAIK Eaves has never worked on Lower Decks.

The only show he's worked since DSC S1 was Picard. Ryan Dening and couple other designers have been their go to on the Discovery side of the universe since DSC Season 2.

I just want Legacy, please, a new episodic Enterprise show that isn't a damned prequel with characters whom we already know their fates.
Seems you'll be waiting awhile. Unless they include the Enterprise-G in a possible Picard film, I think you're gonna be waiting at least until Strange New Worlds is finished. Hopefully that won't be for at least a few more seasons.

Omg, this is a titanic article. Who authorized this?

Kurtzman pursuing a Picard TV movie is on par with my suggestions recently.

SNW season 3 looks like they broke the bank.

Sec 31, Rachel Garrett??

Academy: Biggest Trek set ever?

One movie is going into preproduction this year. 3 are in development (hell?).

I lost count of the number of times someone made a point to note, with real pride, how one or the other of the “Star Trek” TV productions is saving money, whether it be “Section 31” repurposing sets from “Discovery” or “Strange New Worlds” redressing the same set to be everything from crew quarters to a sparring gym. No one will get specific about budgets, but Kurtzman says that “Section 31” costs “so much less than you’d ever make a ‘Star Trek’ movie for.”

Not surprising. Can't wait to see the Shenzhou Bridge Set redressed for the 5th time
