Hello all and welcome to the first of what hopes to be many Caption Contests poking fun at the latest Trek feature film. I'm your host Bat Boy, also known by the non-Halloween themed screen name Rat Boy and fan fic author M.F. Kidd. You might remember me from such threads as the Movie Caption Contest or as the writer of Star Trek: Venture (shameless plug). As the first series of images from the set of Star Trek make their way to the Internet, it seems only fitting that we begin riffing on them.
Now here are the ground rules for those new to the concept of Caption Contests. The first and foremost is that whatever you post has to be funny. Riff the characters, riff the actors; everything's fair game. Photoshops are also allowed and as participants of the Movie contest are aware of, even rewarded. However, given how contentious the new movie is, I highly recommend leaving the vitriol at the door so that this thread doesn't turn into a flame war. But, as I said, if you can make it funny, more power to you. Secondly, while we're all adults here, try to keep your captions to the lower R-rated variety. Anything too over the top in the X/NC-17 range will likely get you a trip to the moderator's office.
As for this actual contest itself, since it's impossible to know how often new images will trickle out from the studio, this first contest will feature only two of the images released this evening. Both images have been resized to fit better within the forum and for those of you who run your monitors in lower resolutions. They're also hosted at Imageshack to preserve the bandwiths of their sources, namely UGO and Trekmovie.com.
For this contest, we have two of the first pictures of the main cast from the movie. First is the shot of the main characters (sans Spock) standing on the bridge and reacting to something mysterious. Are they looking at two Spocks? Are they wondering why Spock's wearing a sombrero? Your guess is as good as mine. Finally, we have the shot of Spock throttling Kirk. Was it something the captain said? Does he want to eat his brain? I leave that for you to determine. Have at, everybody:
