The Wrath of Khan Directors Cut Vs. Theatrical Cut, Differences?

I have uploaded the turbolift scene here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRYlPifDUBg

O, dear god! That's terrible.

I agree. I prefer the theatrical cut in every way possible. Meyer's a good director-for-hire but he's hardly an auteur. The studio assembled a better film.

I think those (awful) takes were used for the TV-version because the Theatrical/DC-version uses one long wide-shot of the scene with the actors on left and right side of the frame. Even with Pan-and-Scan not really usable for a 4:3-format.

The wide-shot is the better version, and that is why it is in the DC, otherwise Meyer would have used the ABC-version again.

Indeed. I even noticed that during a copy I had on tape from the skiffy channel from 99 or so that that scene actually was the wide shot from the theatrical/dc.

Oso Blanco...........

Thanks a bunch for that posting. It's been years since I've seen that version. :bolian:

It's not bad, but just a little too much flirting AND just not as good for the widescreen version in any case.

That's the last puzzle piece from the ABC version that we needed to close that chapter.

Now on to any new stuff we might see in the Blu-ray 2009 release.

Yes, thanks for posting that.

I thought It was lost forever since no one ever responded to requests for pictures etc.

Thank you!
